i think marlboro knows i'm thinking of quitting. they sent me a birthday gift. its a super tiny ashtray. kinda looks intended for holding no more then 4 butts at a time with only one lip for one ciggerette.

i don't know if i should be happy about possible encouragment from the big bad corporation to cut down.... or if i should just be paranoid.

My friend got one of those, and he doesn't even smoke. Last year he got a cool bottle opener. Marlboro goes all out if they think you're a devoted smoker.

they should too. since theirs are typically twice as much as anyone elses.

Don't let them know you quit, just keep taking their stuff. Make them pay Leffy, make them pay!

lol i tallied up the price of my smoking per year. on average i smoke roughly $1500. :skull: now this is with inflated ciggerette costs in georgia. according to the absolute lowest price in the US on marlboros that i've seen to cover merely production cost, thats $600 just to line their pockets. yeah i'd say i want some real nifty shit for my loyalty.

I've got a friend that doesn't smoke but gets all sorts of shit from malboro, and philip-morris. Because he takes the upcs from other friends that do smoke cig packs and turns them in.

i almost wish i had the ability to do what my grandmother did. all she bought were papers and she grew her own tobacco. fewer poisons in it, and cheaper. i'm just not very good at the whole drying out dealie.

yea but you'ld probly also be busted for paraphernalia....

Leffy

as long as i've no residue stating i had marijuana, then it'd just be smoking utensils, and thus i'd be ok.

depends on the area:rolleyes:

There is some places local to me that paraphernalia has stiffer penalties then actually carrying drugs. Yea goto love the stupid legal begals that think "OK we make all the stuff used to smoke pot heavier pelaties then pot and people will stop using/buying... So basicaly they made it illegal to have rolling papers and tobacco. But its ok to have roll-your-own cigs, once they're made. Law was probly made by someone with stock in the cig industry.

eh its legal to sell smoking paraphernalia around here, as long as its stressed that its for tobacco use only. which yeah waterpipes are SOOOOO used for tobacco... yep.

Heh, I don't smoke per se... (the odd cigar) but I found out that there are many places around the city that are kind enough to grow 'ornamental' tobacco. It's perfectly smokeable, although I suspect the nicotine content is considerably lower (I get a head buzz with very occasional use, but I'm a lightweight non-smoker).

Like Leffy says, it's the proper curing process that is hard to get down. I've had some not bad results on occasion (tough to pull off with 1 or 2 leaves at a time), and I don't mind the 'green' taste - even without proper curing it's way smoother than commercial tabaccy. It's possible to roll smokeable, if not exactly exactly beautiful, cigars, with not too much practice, but if you're good with rolling yer own, you're golden.

hell its still a bit cheaper to buy loose cigar tobacco. theres even a little shop in the mall that carries much and most of its locally or internationally grown with little to no additives. some of it smells nicer in its little cannister then it tastes but when you're smoking leaves a more appreciative scent then marlboros in the air.

To get around the whole paraphenalia thing, buy cigarette tubes. They're empty paper tubes with a filter on it, takes a nifty little machine to get the tobacco inside em, but it's WAY cheaper than buying ready made cigarettes. And it'd be damn hard to figure them being used for anything but tobacco. What pot smoker is going to make a cigarette sized J with a filter?? Plus, I find cigarettes easier to make with those than going thru the whole rolling paper bit.

Costs me about $30 a month for tobacco and tubes. The machine seems to need replacing about once a year or so, but only runs 5 or 6 bucks, so that's no big deal.

i tried that for a bit, but apparently they sell filterless tubes too, and everytime i bought a new machine it was ganked by certain adventurous siblings, for themselves and friends for the not so legal "menthols"

What was once a neighbourhood comic shop (called a collectibles shop) up here now sells paraphinalia almost exclusively, bongs and crack pipes. There's a few hockey cards, one tiny thing of magic the gathering, no comics and a shit load of crack pipes and bongs.

that's more like a Deluxe weekend at Dragon*Con...think I made it on $200 last year, and that's with staying at a host hotel.

See, shopping at a con is a big part of the fun for me, especially since there's a lot of stuff there that I ordinarily can't buy anywhere else, even at the FLGS (Friendly Local Game Shop). The last Origins that I went to, I dropped $300 just on RPG supplies.
