so i was thinking. we have a DP soundtrack and song book and stuff, but what song is stuck in your head?

i've got two stuck in my head right now and well its a good thing i don't make my living as a dj. cause theres no way these two mixed together could ever sound good.

Paralyzer- Finger Eleven (not my average cleaning day song but i can't get it out!)
Watch My Ride- Insane Clown Posse (cause J's voice is just so hawt when he does low tones)

I usually have a melange of Nine Inch Nails songs running thru my head, but sometimes I get stuck on one. Lately, it's been Sin, especially the chorus.

Your kiss, your fist
and the strain it gets under my skin
Within, take in
the extent of my sin

Thank you, thank you very much.

Actually I never think of that song until a subject like this comes up and then I have to mention it just because I'm sick like that and I know people will immediately run for anything just to get that song out of their head. One of my favorite songs that the tune runs through my head fairly frequently is actually the instrumental Orion by Metallica. Great song to just veg out to.

Ruestir
08-06-2007, 05:35 PM
LMAO! You would enjoy that wouldn't ya? The only dancing I really got into was while I was in college, and then it was whatever was popular at the clubs then. So from '89 to '94 popular dance music. I was pretty good then too for the genre.

Leffy
08-06-2007, 05:38 PM
i had a whole mental image set up in my head too. you'd be like making microwave noodles and humming, look up to see if you'd be spotted then just rock out like you want to throw your giblets out of wack. of course mrs ruestir would appear and you'd flip out stumble and thered be noodle al dente on the ceiling. complete with girly scream from you at her sneakiness. :P

I LOVE the song Dancing Queen!! I did a whole dance routine to it in my drama camp when I was 13. I have it on film!

They put me in the back... ;-;

Don't know why. The girls in the front where awkward and couldn't move smoothly. And I'm NOT talking about the little kids. *huffs*

Ruestir
08-06-2007, 05:54 PM
*ROLLS* Ok, just goes to show how little you know me. Neither confirming nor denying insinuated dancing antics, but should the mood strike me I would neither be embarrassed at being caught nor would I scream like a girl. More likely I'd just grab her up and make her dance with me. That's not to say I can't be surprised to the point of tossing noodles or jumping in the air. Again, not saying I behave in such a way, which I don't, as far as you know. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Leffy
08-06-2007, 05:55 PM
suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure. i bet you dance like a whiteboy.

Ruestir
08-06-2007, 06:04 PM
Hearing "whiteboy can dance" tends to give one the impression he isn't making a fool of himself. Wouldn't go so far as to make any proclamations myself to my skill, but I did enjoy it quite a bit and never had a problem finding girls to dance with. I'd go more but neither the wife or I enjoy the club scene anymore. Though we did do some swing dancing last year that was a lot of fun, just haven't been able to work it out and go again. Man I'm feeling old today.

Leffy
08-06-2007, 06:08 PM
lol i really do suck at dancing. i can move my body fairly well its just... i can't move it to music lol. the only time you'll catch me dancing, outside of the obvious underwear dance every woman does on the occassional blue moon when the stars align, is when i've had a couple drinks and they're playing something i like. even then its no more then hip rocking. or i've had atleast three drinks and i'm grinding with the others on the floor laughing my ass off. THAT i can lead.

kitty!
08-06-2007, 06:14 PM
I just dance. I learned how to Krunk (because I really don't like the booty shaking girls do to r&b, makes boys think things they shouldn't be thinking) and now that all the good Krunkers have left the youth club I'm in I'm basically the best at Krunk there.

HA HA NEIKKO AND QUENTIN!!!

*buffs nails* I'm just a terrific dancer. It's in my genetic material. ;) Mah Mummy used to be a professional dancer. Ballet, Jazz, Caberet, Mummy did all sorts before daddy knocked her up ^^

i figured, what the hell put up the lyrics too! so here

"Darkness" by Twiztid

How come this wasted time is such a loss expressed on my side?
I'd give you everything if you just let me stand beside you
Your kind is so amused and still confused by what you live with
Your darkness just won't go away
Your light, it's time for you to shine on today
Nothing but darkness in me

[Chorus]
Darkness, night time
No moon in the sky tonight
Feeling like our lives been tucked away, today
Life is darkness, forever remain, and again

How come these things you say they always seem to grow and haunt me?
I'd give you everything if you just let me stand beside you
You seem to think that I would let things slide and have you change me
This darkness just won't go away
No light, inside for me to shine on today
Nothing but darkness in me

[Chorus x2]
Darkness, night time
No moon in the sky tonight
Feeling like our lives been tucked away, today
Life is darkness, forever remain, and again

And again [x15]

No light, inside for me to shine on today
Nothing but darkness in me

[Chorus]
Darkness, night time
No moon in the sky tonight
Feeling like our lives been tucked away, today
Life is darkness, forever remain, and again

Mark Knopfler-- The Last Laugh

Don't you love the sound
Of the last laugh my friend
Don't you love the sound
Of the last laugh at the end
Down in the gutter with the mad old soldiers
Down in the scuppers with the drunken sailors
Down in the gutter with the mad old soldiers
But the last laugh, baby is yours
And don't you love the sound
Of the last laugh going down

Games you thought you'd learned
You neither lost nor won
Dreams have crashed and burned
But you're still going on
Out on the highway with the road gang working
Up on the mountain with the cold wind blowing
Out on the highway with the road gang working
But the last laugh, baby is yours
And don't you love the sound
Of the last laugh going down

They had you crying but you came up smiling
They had you crawling and you came up flying
They had you crying and you came up smiling
And the last laugh, baby is yours
And don't you love the sound
Of the last laugh going down
Yeh don't you love the sound
Of the last laugh going down

Feel by Zug Izland

I gave you everything
All I could give
It might not have been
the life you'd thought you'd live

I know it feels good
to have you by my side
Even though I know you could
Just break my heart wide

I just have to ask you one more time

[Chorus]
Did I make you feel like number one?
Did I help you see like stars and the sun? (Yeah)
Did I make you feel like number one?
Did I make you feel like life's just begun?

It's like a puzzle
a piece that just fit
You never really needed
To look for it

In your eyes
I see my future and my past
I never really thought that
We would last

I just have to ask you one more time

[Chorus]
Did I make you feel like number one?
Did I help you see like stars and the sun? (Yeah)
Did I make you feel like number one?
Did I make you feel like life's just begun?

We've seen
all the good times and the bad
Waitin' for the next
but we never had
To the highest mountain, yeah, I would climb

I just have to ask you one more time

[Chorus 2x]
Did I make you feel like number one?
Did I help you see like stars and the sun? (Yeah)
Did I make you feel like number one?
Did I make you feel like life's just begun? (Yeah Yeah)

The mic, the treble
I like my coffee black
Just like my metal

The bass, the rock
The mic, the treble
I like my coffee black
Just like my metal

I can't wait for you to knock me up
In a minute, minute
In a fucking minute

I can't wait for you to knock me up
In a minute, minute
In a second

I can't wait for you to shut me up
And make me hip like badass
I can't wait for you to shut me up
Shut it up

I can't wait for you to shut me up
And make me hip like badass
I can't wait for you to shut me up
Shut it up

I don't find it funny right now (right now)
Just want my ma-ma-ma-money right now (now)

I don't find it funny right now (right now)
Just want my ma-ma-ma-money right now (now)

I can't wait for you to shut me up
And make me hip like badass
I can't wait for you to shut me up
Shut it up

I can't wait for you to shut me up

Three Songs, all Godsmack-

Re-Align
Decisions made from desperation
No way to go
Internal instincts craving isolation
For me to grow

My fears come alive
In this place where I once died
Demons dreaming
Knowing i...i just needed to realign

Fell in a river of illusion
And apathy
Drowning in a self-induced confusion
Id rather be

My fears come alive
In this place where I once died
Demons dreaming
Knowing i...i just needed to realign

My fears come alive
In this place where I once died
Demons dreaming
Knowing i...i just needed to realign

My fears come alive
In this place where I once died
Demons dreaming
Knowing i...i just needed to realign

My fears come alive
In this place where I once died
Demons dreaming
Knowing i...i just needed to realign
Yeah!

Running Blind
Can’t find the answers
I’ve been crawling on my knees
Looking for anything
To keep me from drowning
Promises have been turned to lies
Can’t even be honest inside
I'm running backwards
Watching my life wave me goodbye

Running blind
I’m running blind
Somebody help me see I’m running blind

Searching for nothing
Wondering if I’ll change
I’m trying everything
But everything still stays the same
I thought if I showed you I could fly
Wouldn’t need anyone by my side
I'm running backwards
With broken wings I know I’ll die

Running blind
I’m running blind
Somebody help me see I’m running blind
Running blind
Running blind
Running blind

I can’t find the answers
I’ve been crawling on my knees
Looking for anything
To keep me from drowning
I’m running blind
Running blind
Running blind
Running blind
Running blind
Running blind
Running blind
Running blind
Running blind

praise of God. God will begin to speak forth, our
Righteousness is of him, sayith the Lord
[Music Begins]

Get back

Can you feel Im not like you anymore.
I cant see,
I cant breathe.
See you quiver like the dogs on the street,
Looking down on as I beat you.
Oh, its a bad religion,
From a broken nation.
Its a contradiction,
And I cant take it anymore, yeah.
Whos ta say I wont like you anyway?
Take a deep breath,
Im alive.
Can you hear me,
Im alive inside you.
Agony creeps up behind you.
Oh, Its a bad religion (Bad religion)
From a broken nation (A broken nation)
Its a contradiction,
And I cant take it any f***ing more
Its a bad religion (bad religion, bad religion, bad religion)
From a broken nation (Broken nation)
Its a contradiction.
Yeah.
Can you feel it?
I gotta live with it everyday
And I cant take the pressure.
Im goin' insane,
Now go away

Go away

[Preacher:] Now you start praising God where ever you
are. I dont care where you are, I dont care what is
happening, just begin to praise God, just begin to
praise him and praise him and praise him and praise
him and worship him, and bless him... [Trails off]

Have I not mentioned this?

Tom's Diner Suzanne Vega

I am sitting
In the morning
At the diner
On the corner

I am waiting
At the counter
For the man
To pour the coffee

And he fills it
Only halfway
And before
I even argue

He is looking
Out the window
At somebody
Coming in

"It is always
Nice to see you"
Says the man
Behind the counter

To the woman
Who has come in
She is shaking
Her umbrella

And I look
The other way
As they are kissing
Their hellos

I'm pretending
Not to see them
Instead
I pour the milk

I open
Up the paper
There's a story
Of an actor

Who had died
While he was drinking
It was no one
I had heard of

And I'm turning
To the horoscope
And looking
For the funnies

When I'm feeling
Someone watching me
And so
I raise my head

There's a woman
On the outside
Looking inside
Does she see me?

No she does not
Really see me
Cause she sees
Her own reflection

And I'm trying
Not to notice
That she's hitching
Up her skirt

And while she's
Straightening her stockings
Her hair
Has gotten wet

Oh, this rain
It will continue
Through the morning
As I'm listening

To the bells
Of the cathedral
I am thinking
Of your voice...

And of the midnight picnic
Once upon a time
Before the rain began...

I finish up my coffee
It's time to catch the train

And although these lyrics don't include the "Da da da da dadada...etc etc" that fucking part has been in my head since I was 12 damnit! I turned 30 a week ago! If I ever meet her, I'm afraid she'll have to die.

.... no... that farce of a song was banned from my hearing distance after hearing it two times, if I heard it on the radio I changed the station, my sister played it on cd player I threw the cd into the cow pasture.

I did the same thing to my Cousins Hoobastank CD with The Reason song on it. He put the CD in my car radio, 3 seconds later it was flying out the window at 85mph as I was driving down IH10 heading back to San Antonio.

Why I HATE that particular song: When we still had access to our CD drives here at work, one of my former co-workers put in a burned CD with that song on it & played it NON-FREAKING-STOP for 8 hours. By the end of the day I was ready to KILL. I NEVER want to hear that song EVER again. If I wanted to hear whiny love songs, I surely wouldn't turn to a supposed rock band for it.

**EDIT**
Clicking on all of those links & listening to the songs reminds me of going to a number of Cons dressed as a Klingon. Yes, I'm a Star Trek Geek. But, we would play this on our radios as we were doing Security for the Con. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwQyiQ2eZUI

I work in an A/V and appliance store, mostly on the A/V side. A certain section has our little radios, like the Bose and Boston Acoustic little things, all tuned to radio. The only radio station that is deemed safe for store use is the local pop station.

So I get to hear everything that's "fresh", "new" and "popular". And, a lot of times, it gets stuck in my head because the radio plays it so much.

If you mean from the song about the lion sleeping, it doesn't mean anything. It was a made-up word, along the lines of 'shawoddy-woddy" or whatever.

step left around and together with the right, bend knees, stand straight, thrust hips

Damn, what was that song called?

80's song? Um, How to Dance by the Bingo Boys?

And running through my head is Hey Pretty (drive by remix) by poe

Mark (reading):
Kyrie suggested we go for a drive in her new 2-door BMW coupe In the parking lot, we slipped into her bucket seats Kyrie took over from there. At nearly 90 miles per hour she zipped us up to that windy edge Known to some as Mullholland, that sinuous road running the ridge of the Santa Monica Mountains Where she then proceeded to pump her vehicle in and out of turns Sometimes dropping down to 50 miles per hour, only to immediately gun it back up to 90 again Fast, slow, fast fast slow Sometime a wide turn sometimes a quick one she preferred the tighter ones The sharp controlled jerks, swinging left to right before driving back to the right Only so she could do it all over again until after enough speed, and enough wind, and more distance than I had been prepared to expect Taking me to parts of the city I rarely think of and never visit...

Hey pretty
Don't you wanna take a ride with me?
Through my world
Hey pretty
Don't you wanna kick and slide
Through my world

Mark:
I can't remember the inane things I started babbling about then, I know it didn't really matter, she wasn't listening She just yanked up on the emergency brake, dropped her seat back, and told me to lie on top of her On top of those leather pants of hers, extremely expensive leather pants mind you, her hands immediately guiding mine over those soft, slightly oily folds Positioning my fingers on the shiny metal tab, small and round, like a tear Then murmuring a murmur so inaudible that even though I could feel her lips tremble against my ear, she seemed far, far away Pinch it, she said, which I did, lightly, until she also said pull it, which I also did, gently parting the teeth, one at a time, down under and beneath, the longest unzipping of my life...

Hey pretty
Don't you wanna take a ride with me?
Through my world
Hey pretty
Don't you wanna kick and slide
Through my worldHey pretty
My pretty baby
Rock it through my world (through my world)
Hey pretty (Hey pretty)
My pretty baby
Rock it through my world (my world)

Mark:
We never even kissed, or looked into each other's eyes, our lips just Trespassed on those inner labyrinths hidden deep within our ears, Filled them with the private music of wicked words Hers in many languages, mine in the off-color of my only tongue, until as our tones shifted and our consonants spun and squealed, rabbled faster, hesitated, raced harder Syllables soon melting into groans or moans, finding purchase in new words, or old words, or made-up words Until we gathered up our heat and refused to release it, enjoying too much the dark lane which we had suddenly stumbled upon Prayed to, carved to, not a communication really, but a channeling of our rumored desires, hers for all I know gone to black forests and wolves, mine banging back to the familiar form, that great revenant mystery I still could only hear the shape of Which in spite of our separate lusts and individual prize, still continued to drive us deeper into stranger tones, our mutual desire to keep gripping the burn Fueled by sound, hers screeching, mine...I didn't hear mine, only hers, probably counter-pointing mine A high pitched cry, then a whisper dropping unexpectedly, to practically a bark, a grunt, whatever, no sense anymore, and suddenly no more curves either, just the straightaway
Too bad dark languages rarely survive..."

Ok, I have the radio edit that goes directly from 'Hers in many languages, mine in the off-color of my only tongue' to 'Too bad dark languages rarely survive' an skips the part in between. PM me your email address etc. etc.
I am still working on acquiring the non radio edit, and if I can get it... :)

And I admit, I tried to read the book House of leaves by Mark Danielewski that the piece is excerpted from and my brain spasmed. Hard. I'll have to try it again when I'm not taking classes.

and it was one of the rare hours that evil song was not included.

speaking of retail audio has anyone else noticed that as much as the radio is supposed to make you go oooh i wanna SHOP just about anywhere thats 24/7 almost always plays soft sweet depressing songs, classical, and soft jazz between the hours of 3 and 5? now this defeats the purpose in comparison to my job. those last few hours i should be encouraged to be extra peppy... not sung lullabyes.

I don't know about over there. We only have two 24-hour places here: ASDA (part of the Wal*Mart family!) and Tesco (determined to own 51% of the UK retail industry) and I don't generally go to either. I used to go to Asda due to them having free parking for customers and being in town (8 miles of dangerous roads between home and town, no local shop) but Waitrose have set up in the same town and they beat Asda on multiple scores, including environmental, range, quality, having make-your-own-sushi kit and not being part of a corporation that was one of the major contributors to GWB's 2004 reelection campaign fund.

Asda used to have, and probably still has, constant crappy "cover versions", ie rip-offs and remakes, of various songs. Any time I heard one I'd liked ripped off *ahem* "covered" on their music system I'd go out and buy the original from another company. Not exactly the idea, I'm sure.

One thing on which Asda remains, afaik, unbeaten around here: design your own pizza, carry on shopping, come back and pick it up, check out, go home and cook it.

Damnit, I've left my Strangers in Paradise at home. Dad finally saw enough good reviews of Return to the Forbidden Planet to go and see it even though I'd recommended it, and since then he's been willing to occasionally believe I might be right once in a blue moon, and I got him on a blue moon with SiP.

The quote above makes me want to quote {damnit I have to read all the way through to figure out which one of them's saying it} in an unillustrated monologue in one of them on the subject of home.
