It seems that George V and company are entertaining the notion of reintroducing the game, after losing the license. I guess with Palladium relaunching Robotech with the Shadow Chronicles RPG book to modest success, they think they can do the same with Buffy.
Clarification from George V about the Buffy situation. (http://edenstudiosdiscussionboards.yuku.com/sreply/44956/t/What-if-the-Buffy-RPG-came-back-to-Eden-.html)

Not on the roleplay forum probably, try chuck it in off topic bet you'll get better response there. Personally I've never seen it.

I'm a fan of buffy the show, but I know nothing about the RPG, and i didn't follow the comics that were supposed to be season 8 (lack of $)
I'd love to learn more, but i hasn't the time.

Actually, Buffy's fans tend to overlap with gaming quite a bit, enough that gaming references crept into the show on occasion. When Eden got the license the first time, it was their top seller with the Angel RPG coming in at a close second. Sales were such that Eden earned enough income to finance their in-house projects. The problem was that the licensing contracts were made at a time when Buffy and Angel were at the peak of their popularity. When the shows ended, interest in Buffyverse-related products waned. Eden wasn't making the money they needed to in order to keep the license. Rather than renegotiate, Fox terminated the agreements and Eden had to fork over a ton of cash, which cut into the other stuff they were doing.
The management responsible for that situation at Fox is now gone and have been replaced by someone more amenable to renewing the RPG.
