i'm actually kinda happy with my finals right now so i thought i'd share
original photo (we can take the underdrawing from a photo but everything else has to be done off of live models)

That is fabulous.
You have a lot of talent.
Do you find it easier to work with photos of the models? Or do you work with sitting models too?

it's alot easier for me to work with photos. the lighting doesn't change and the model can't get tired and shift around.
live models are alot of fun but i prefer to only use them for things that can be done quickly.

It's still beautiful work.
I wish I had some sort of skill in visual arts. I have a hereditary palsy that makes my hands shake. You would never notice it, unless I was trying to draw a straight line, and I am extremely colorblind. Not the simple little red green kind, but the really extreme kind where you eyes simply don't have enough cones to go around.
It isn't a problem for me. Music and wood are enough for me, but I always felt like I was missing something that those durned visual artists were enjoying.
Simply because it's almost impossible to ask a girl to pose for a song.

I actually know a phenominal artist, Dave E. Phillips (aka humbleego), who is color blind. His website is http://www.humbleego.com but its currently being overhauled so sad panda about that.
It isn't a problem for me. Music and wood are enough for me, but I always felt like I was missing something that those durned visual artists were enjoying.

Hahah I roffled at that. Yes, that does seem like a rough task.. but you could maybe find one to sing the music you write. I love playing guitar but my voice sucks so thats how I go about it. ^__^
Anyways, back to the topic at hand. Phenomenal work Meg. I really love the first one just because of all of the action you captured in the piece. It has great lines, great energy, and you picked absolutely perfect colors. The yellow background really just makes the subject pop out of the canvas at the viewer.
I like the second one but, I don't know, it just doesn't strike me the way the first one does. I think its because its still a WIP and you haven't really added any strong contrast to the dude yet. At the moment he kind of looks like a puddle of water melting into the floor. I would really like to see some of his features darkened up to help the viewers eye to where you want them to look rather then just getting lost on the canvas.
Overall, great work. You have a ton of talent. Keep it up and keep posting, can't wait to see more.

Meg,
I hate to say this, but I like your line drawings best. You obviously work really hard on your coloring, but it's all lost on me.
The line drawings are cool. Really cool.

These are great! i like the first one of the female model best. :P
Oh and Freiman, it really just depends on what kind of song and what kind of posing. :dgrin:

I think Scotty's is done (please excuse all the crappy webcam pictures I'll get better ones when my camera is fixed)

freiman- I definitely understand what you're saying. I'm actually a sequential art major so I'm used to only doing black and white stuff with heavy emphasis on lines. This is the first quarter I've used color mediums in a class so I'm still really bad at it.
asianmommy- Believe it or not that female model is me.... I can make some really freaky faces when I'm not trying.

Fantastic! And the reclining man one looks much better finished. Personally I would still like some of the lines to be a little bolder but it looks great. I typically work in b&w myself too, and I prefer like sketchy-ish line drawings to the cleaned up versions. I love being able to see where the artist did things and how they planned out the piece, where they thought they messed up and changed things. Stuff like that.
