Or a tuskless Tauntaun (http://www.starwars.com/databank/creature/tauntaun/)?
Poor Jen, fate just doesn't want to cut her any slack.

I wonder if she had to pay for the window?

It's a guy in a lama suit. Once Brook said "it can't get any worse" we tried to think up where we'd find ourselves next year. We decided we'd probably end up on the side of a mountain next to a burning car with a lama and a goldfish.
We tried to get the window fixed without her parents knowing but we couldn't get it done and still make it to the next con in Baltimore. So we called her mom (who was in England) and the mother was amazed that we waited so long to break the window and that we had taken it out and brought it to a window repair place. Apparently the ski place has maintenance guys who do all that for them.

I feel kinda guilty because it turned out in my favor that we got stuck (and it was my fault I shut the door) because I got 17 cartoons out of it. I think they'll be in book 17.

don't feel guilty. you found good in something bad. it woulda been worse if you guys had nothing at all to show for it.

Leffys right, and besides it gives Brook a chance to be in the comic. Which is always gotta be cool. And I think someone needs to make you a real utility belt.

FINALLY! Something with a counterweight! I've seen so many blasted useless "fantasy" weapons which would be fuck-all useless in actual melees. I LIKE that one. It makes me all tingly in my nether regions.

Until you pointed it out I doubt he would have realised.
On the axe point, why is a counterweight necessary?

The sheer size makes it damn unwieldy, and when it's heavy on one side only, one swing is about all you'll get.
Though personally I'd want either http://www.brothersmith-swords.com/H13-500946-German-War-Sword-p-24771.html or http://www.brothersmith-swords.com/H23-2035-Functional-Dark-Ninja-Sword-p-23510.html for actual use. For decorative purposes, this- http://www.weaponmasters.com/index.html?ID=903e55ebdca6229b3b2be258f96404e7&SORT=&ITEM=MCJBL-98

Anything that is extremely blade heavy needs a counterweight at the end in order to make it actual wieldable. It takes a bit of stress off certain muscle groups and redistributes the load.
It also makes it a bit easier to recover from a heavy swing.

I love the comic he used for the bottle in question.
Hehehehehe ... Ohhhh Jennie, I have TWO bottles of the "GREEN" saved up for this year's Dragon*Con. And I'm driving down. SO the room-bar will be stocked.

Umm ... DUH! :-)
Why do you think I nicknamed it that? I miss that lecherous old coot. He was fun to hang out with. Funniest picture from Grand Slam 94 was the one I have of him ogling the great ... tracts of land ... of the girl I hooked up with the night my copilot and I showed up in Pasadena.
*sigh* Now that was a fun convention.

Why? Hate is, after all, a pretty strong term...
(An English teacher once pointed out that there's a fine line between hate and love, as both require a certain amount of obsession)

Look at it from the wearer's perspective. It's not much fun to be in, either. You have limited vision inside a suit like that (one of the reasons costumed characters have a handler) and unless you're wearing an ice vest, you'll quickly overheat. Most costume makers recommend 15 minutes in the outfit with 15 minute breaks in between.

As both an ex manufacturer AND a costume wearer.. I can tell ya, 15 on and 15 off.. AINT HAPPENIN!!

I'm referring specifically to outfits designed for character appearances like Mickey Mouse, Build-A-Bear's Bearemy, and the various sports team mascots. Those outfits are designed for quick dress/removal. The Llama looked like it might have been shop-built for that purpose.
