Alright, I need major help with this. No matter what i try to draw, I can never get past the shoulders when i try. This is a character that i was going to model for a game I wanted to make, but I just can't get him out on paper!!! It's driving me mad!!! :jbdrunk: My problem is that whenever i try to draw something, either I go OCD trying to get both sides of him/her to look exactly right, or proportions are always off, or I just flatout fail the drawing altogether!!! I have considered giving up on the project, but this is something I know i can do, I just need the characters to put in it. Maybe my problem is a lack of confidence, I don't know. I just would like some help with this.

Here is what i have so far:

I envision him to have a bit of a resemblance to myself, only with a manga style. He would be wearing extremely baggy jeans (Tripp Jeans), cut-fingered gloves, a T-Shirt (still trying to figure out what will be on his torso, maybe help me with that as well?) and an Edward Elric-esque hairstyle. The hair should at least be pulled back. Ill put pics of myself up when i get back from picking my brother up from summer school. I know this is pathetic of me to be asking, but I'm at my wits end here. If anybody does want to help me with this, he would need to be standing feet shoulder width apart and arms out to his side, front view and profile. (for arm positioning 45 degrees or straight out, doesnt matter.) I would also need a close up of the face, front view and profile, as my game will have pre-rendered cutscenes in it, so I will need a fair amount of detail in the face.

I didn't spend 20 bucks on Game Maker for nothing.

I suggest shrinking the image to maybe a quarter that size (retain aspect ratio), saving it with another name and posting that instead. Really. It's 1180622 bytes as shown. Maybe playing with contrast and brightness to make it monochrome 1-bit colour would help, too.

If you're having trouble with the balls-and-sausages drawing, try a skeleton instead. My drawings of people start with the skeleton, then the muscles and tendons, then skin, then cartilage, then hair.

alrighty i had a little trouble with something like this earlier. i think you can see the guidelines well enough in this picture to give you some help.

to get the whole figure the right scale you need to figure out the size of the head. the whole figure is usually 8 heads tall so pretty much draw 8 "heads" on top of each other. the second "head" is the shoulders. third "head" midsection and elbows. fourth "head is the hips. and the last four heads are split evenly between the thigh and calf with the knee at the bottom of the sixth "head"

Oh wow. O_O

Thanks Meg!!! This is exactly what i was looking for. He may not come out the exact same as the drawing, but this i can definitely use as a guide. =D
