See my purdy scribbles?

Geek Detective

I may have shown this one off before. That's our sleepless and sugar-crazed Jennie as wall graffiti. The other characters weren't defined beyond a basic overview. That's our hero in the middle, The Geek Detective. The robot on the right is the mechanic of the group. Note that his external plating resembles a pair of overalls. The upside-down girl is a ghost. Far from being all gloomy and sad, she's quite chipper (annoyingly so). She often forgets that she IS dead and is quite in love with our hero. The hovertruck off to the left was intended to be the group's "Mystery Machine" and sort of became a character of its own. That's the John Hancock Tower, a Chicago landmark, immediately below the ghost's transparent hand by the way.

Cyborg Cop

This fellow was inspired by Briareos Hecatonchires (who makes a cameo in the drawing). Despite the horrible trauma that resulted in his becoming a cyborg, he carries on a relatively normal life. The projection on his head is a periscope camera that allows him to see over walls and around corners.

Cyborg Cop 2

Another cyborg lawman. A Georgia State Trooper by the looks of his chest patch. ;)

Mike,

Do you have any kind of image processing software like Photoshop? I've noticed that gamma-ing down your image make it look more like the original probably did. The scanner is currently not doing you any favors.

There is a freeware set of image processing tools that runs on WindowsXP or Linux called gimp (http://www.gimp.org). It's good stuff and did I mention, free?

some of those scans are really old. Besides, my machine has decided that it doesn't like my scanner when its hooked up to my DSL modem. In any case, I can't use gimp right now because this Win98SE machine won't run it.

Nightbane

The Nightbane are the title characters of the Nightbane RPG written by CJ Carella and published by Palladium Books. 'Banes, as they are sometimes called, are shapechanging creatures that live most of their lives as seemingly normal human beings. During adolescence, or sometimes later during adulthood, they experience the Becoming, the first manifestation of their True Form (also known as the Morphus). This during a highly emotional state (anger, sadness, sexual arousal). This form is a physical manifestation of various aspects of the Nightbane's personality. Each Morphus is as unique as the Nightbane it belongs. Some Nightbane look angelic, some look monstrous, most fall somewhere in between.

Ditto on what the bare-footed slave said.

Am rather envious of people who can draw well. Get the inkling to sketch every now and then, but am so bad at it ... sigh.

i can't draw without a reference of some sort. and i don't like drawing anything but fantasy creatures so i just end up replicating peoples stuff. like amy browns' fairies. only i suck at doing clothing cause i get anal on shading and detail so they all end up nakey.

Just a background decoration. I sometimes put in geometric shapes to make the subject stand out more, like in this one.

Infantry Mecha

I like Japanese anime, especially mecha-based shows like Patlabor and Mobile Suit Gundam. This design was inspired by the robotic ground infantry Labor units in Patlabor.

Even fat hairy guys are worth it for comedic value.

i like her best of your drawings yet actually.

and plunder hairy gals are an "easy" remedy. bring your favorite hair removal kit and "romantically" introduce the idea of you "pampering" her. get what you want and a pouncy female.

Look very closely at her hand and wrist. The wrist is wooden. her hands are leather and wrought iron.

this title reminds me of a story I heard from my aunt about the first time she brought her husband home to meet the family, my dad (being the 4 year old he was) was jumping on the couch, yelled "LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!" and the promptly jumped off and landed on his head.

After laughing hysterically with my dad looking uncomfortable, I managed to wheeze out an "so THAT'S where I get it from" and went back to cackling along side my sister.

anyway, my derailment of the thread is over, you all can go back to discussing art now ^^

i was wondering about that mike. i actually thought it was some creepy odd mix of metal and bone. now that i think about it that should've been two separate peices if it were bone. nifty as hell though.

i wish i could do details like that. but i'd be locked in a loony bin if i attempted it. if i do detail i go overboard and well i'd go on a weird rampage needing to find someone resembling the idea in my head then going about making them look like the idea so i could draw it... and well if i did stuff like that i'd have someone pressing aggravated assault charges at the very least.... hehehe
