"All right ye swabs, step lively now!
The Captain's back and ye've till she arrives to get this place ship shape again!
Trim that rigging!
You, air out the Captain's Quarters and get the linens changed!
Prepare the rum! ...no no, the good stuff, left of the door.
Get the deck mopped!
Get those wenches undressed!
And for Noodler's sake, someone get that burro out of here!"
*The various faceless members of the lower crew jump to work,
many having forgotten there are ranks,
let alone the Botswain technically in charge of daily duties.*

Relax, will you? Ishael's taking good care of the ship, that storm's airing out the bilges, never mind the quarters, rum doesn't need preparing, the deck's kept clean by men's tongues every time Shea does a lap ... okay, the number of ways that could get abused is beyond my imagination at this point so I'm leaving it up ... of the deck, the wenches' outfits are either designed to come off with one quick tug on the right bow or held together with velcro, and the burro? Lunch. *pounce* *fly off* *nomnomnomnomnom*

Erm, Farler? You know those things die if they surface? Maybe not immediately but it's there in the ancient lore.
The Kraken Wakes (http://www.jojaffa.com/guides/callouts/kraken.htm)
Below the thunders of the upper deep,
Far far beneath in the abysmal sea,
His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee
About his shadowy sides: above him swell
Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;
And far away into the sickly light,
From many a wondrous grot and secret cell
Unnumbered and enormous polypi
Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green.
There hath he lain for ages and will lie
Battening upon huge seaworms in his sleep,
Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
Then once by men and angels to be seen,
In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.
Fairly dull ride, apart from the bit about getting winnowed by giant arms of enormous polypi.
In the John Wyndham novel, they don't much like sonar either.
Does Captain Kitty answer to Red Admiral butterflies? Are they all in the service of a Kingfisher ruled by a Purple Emperor?

Top of the list is Noodler. Further down is Captain Kitty. Under her is everyone else on the crew. Anything more then that is unneeded details.

Some thigns you just have to accept. Like taht no matter how much rum you stockpile, it will all be gone after a single wild party.
Also, 'stockpile' around this group means 'I havn't noticed them smuggeling some out the back yet.' Most of those 'stockpiled' casks were already empty.

rum isn't nearly as good as pirates claim. Vodka is the place to be.
Has the squids haul in casks of vodka and things to mix it with ten at a time.
I recommend the screwdriver cask, it's like alcoholic breakfast.

Ahhhhhh mead....I lost an entire LARP weekend to that particular drink! Apparently I forgot my own name and insisted everyone called me by my character name all the time... oh the shame!

We carry something that claims to be mead.
It's not mead. It's kinda honey-wine-ish, but it's not mead. Not nearly as good.
Oooo...now I want Ethiopian Honey Wine.

Is hot wine as good as people say? and by people I mean fantasy writers.
For some reason they all have this fascination with hot spiced wine, and I very much doubt a single one of them has ever tried mulled wine

It's all according to taste... and it also heavily depends on the Wine! Gotta say tho.. A Hot Buttered Rum sounds Delish...Until you have to drink the oil slick Gah.. never again!!

Far as all that goes, not all rums are made alike. Probally not vodkas either, but I havn't tried enough of them to know for sure. But I tend to be of the opinion that if I've found a food or drink I enjoy, then there's little reason to dive into things I may well not like. Not to say I stagnate, are certainly occasions when want to try something new.... but they usually just make me appericate my usual.

wolfie is a nice guy
he helped us (via email) to figure out what to do with all the strawberries we picked on saturday
we did not have any vodka but had LOTS of gin
so we tried making strawberry cordial
had left over kiwis too so we tried to make a cordial of that too
gonna post pics in a sec
its not mead but might be pretty good

Chaucer's?
No, Honeyrun. It's a California Organic honey wine.
Comes off a bit bitter in the cherry, sickly sweet in the blackberry and elderberry, and ok in the cranberry, although I really can barely deal with the stickiness of any of them.

I've never been a big fan of wine. The one exception was from a guy at a local SCA wine tasteing event. Everything he had I liked. Sadly, he moved away, havn't found anything quite like what he had.
