Is anyone interested in taking part in an Ars Magica PBE game? It'd be fourth edition (free, can download from e23), and troupe style, so one person would be responsible for fairy stories, one would be responsible for inter-covenant political stories, one would be responsible for mundane stories and so on and soforth, with the details worked out between us, to how people prefer, each player controlling at least one magus, companion and grog. Currently there's a house Jerbitus mage and a Jongluer companion, and I'm hoping to run a spring or summer covenant.
If you are interested, please drop me an e-mail at thecrabishere@googlemaill.com .

It means I saw that noone else had pounced you since the first post you made on this forum, and took the opportunity.

Heeeeere, kitties, come and get the newbie.

I don't know about Ars Magica. I was just saying hello.

I mean

RAR!

I'm Jurg, consider yourself growled at, as with sableagle I was infact more interested in the new kid than the post, I apologise for being so callous but you have to be welcomed into the horde properly.

Again, welcome Crab. I dunno if there's any Ars Magica players that currently post here. However, you're welcome to stick around and post about the game, hopefully gaining some interest in it.

For those who don't know, at one point Ars Magica was supposed to be the past of White Wolf's original World of Darkness.

Yes, that would be third edition (and it was supposed the background to MtAs rather than MtAw iirc), and it royally pissed off some people because it forced in WoD concepts like 'reason' preventing magic and such, but most of that got essentially burned out of foruth edition (atlas games), and White Wolf now just give subtle hints that Exalted is the pre-pre-history of World of Darkness
I knows my RPG history, I does.

But yeah, one thing I would give warning about for Ars Magica 4ed is that it's very rules- and tables-intensive. In a "I cast spontaneous Creo Ignem to spark this straw, roll 8 on a stress die which I add to my Creo of 5 and my Ignem of 6 to get 19, divide by 5 because I'm not expending fatigue, which leaves me with er effect 3... wait a sec I need the CrIg table" way.
There's also quite a lot of downtime, so be warned, while it'll be less irritating than sitting at a table for downtime, it'll be a bit of slog going between missions. Fortunately, downtime is also interesting.
I was thinking that as I'd like to run this troupe-style, I'd be the downtime story guide and downtime would kind of go through me, so you'd file what you want to do each season, send it to me and I'd work out what happens for you. Similarly, it'd be better because it's PBE if you sent off the general way you're doing things and any specific things you want to do to the SG and they co-ordinate it all and say what happens, or scenes and especially combat will get prohibitively long, though I'd like to hear what people who want to play/have played PBE games before think.
