while link jumping, through... someone's LJ (edit: Greyloch's), I found this
http://www.okcupid.com/tests/7396540237359991942/What-is-Your-Spirit-Animal

so I take it and what do I get?

Your spirit animal is the snake. It is generally considered the highest of the ignoble spirits. Snakes are cold-blooded creatures, and nothing but venom comes out of their mouth. Legends have often depicted the snake as wise, but as guardians they are only drawn to people who are cold-spirited and generally unwise. These guardians are quite rare.

... I sound freaking evil.

Heh. Not what I suspected.
"Your spirit animal is the otter. Playful, curious and fun animals, they are truly the start of what can be considered a noble creature. Otters are good at figuring things out, and make great friends. You are lucky to have one as a spirit animal. Otters are fairly rare as spirit animals".

I've been told before my spirit animal is a wolf, but who knows there are probably enough room in my shadow for an otter too.

Your spirit animal is the chipmunk. They are small and cute creatures who keep an exceptionally clean dwelling. They're not a very magnificent animal, but they make up for it in quickness, agility, and cuteness. They are a fairly common spirit animal, and nothing to be ashamed of.

***Wondering how this animal was chosen for you? These questions were carefully thought out to see how important you hold certain virtues such as: humanism, self-knowledge, rationalism, the love of freedom and other somewhat Hellenic ideals. Some of the questions were very subtle. Your score was then matched with an animal of corresponding nobility. However, you shouldn't think this was a right/wrong sort of test, but more of an idealistic values test. It's ok to not hold these values, you'll just get an animal spirit of lower stature if you do!***

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 99% on Nobility

The Cougar
(Here's your results! Your spirit animal has a Nobility ranking of 13 out of 18.)

"Your spirit animal is the cougar. It is a stealthy and deadly protector. With a cougar as a spirit animal, you have nothing to fear in this world. Your life is blessed and you are on the right path. You will still have hard times, but you will pull through them, always stronger for your travails. Congratulations, few are fotunate enough to have such a spirit animal!

why did i get the crapy spirit animal?

Your spirit animal is the porcupine. They are considered only slightly noble for their remakably defensive quills. Still, they are slow and uncuddly creatures. As a spirit animal, porcupines are pretty common, and typically are guardians of those with an average nobility and wisdom

Otter as well...bleh, where's the wing-y things?

Right here. ;)

Your spirit animal is the bat. They are remakable creatures that guide themselves through the night using sonar. They are a fairly common spirit animal, but are neither exceptional nor despisable in regards to nobility. Being nocturnal, they have not really "seen the light", and there is much they are still unaware of, but they have their own special way of navigating the world, which though unconventional, works just fine.

Your spirit animal is the deer. They are a respectable and beautiful animal. They are fearful and timid at times and are considered as having only slightly above average nobility and wisdom. The deer is a fairly common guardian, and you can feel proud knowing it will serve you well.

"Fearful & timid..."

Not quite how I would see myself. In any case, I've ready been told that my spirit animal is Crow.

RazorJAK
08-27-2007, 02:14 AM
Then it may be that Crow is masquerading as Deer to fuck with you. The only animal more likely to do so would be Coyote.

Would've thought it'd be Raven, not Crow, in that instance...though I can certainly see a crow doing it too. Coyote, definitely...anyone here read Gunnerkrigg Court? *has a soft spot(possibly in her skull) for tricksters*

Your spirit animal is the wolf. It is a ferocious companion, and a loyal friend. It is both a respectable and noble creature; to have this spirit animal says good things about you, and that you are starting to figure things out. Wolves are pretty rare spirit animals.

Believe it or not, I did not say bear becouse of its ability to kill. More over, becouse of its ability to guard and protect. There are few worse oponents than a bear protecting her cub. Im more of a pacifist anyway.

The answers aren't what I think show the most. I think the reasons behind our answers do. I however don't think that the creators of such games can begin to grasp the myriad of reasons why people select the answers they do.

Since I could have answered the questions a different way, not really having a best choice option, I did the test again and this time I have a porcupine for a guide.

Ruestir
08-28-2007, 02:39 PM
I agree with you. There was also one at least where one of the answers was an "either or", which made no sense to me. Because, to me, one had absolutely nothing to do with the other. I couldn't think of an instance where you could be either of those things with even a semblence of the same motivation. Like I said, it's interesting, but I wouldn't place any real value in it.

I'd be kind of surprised if there wasn't one. Starting with the presumption of multiple supernatural entities, anyways. :dgrin:

But yah, this test, if I read it correctly, ranks you according to 'nobility' and then picks an animal that matches that. Not sure how tailored it is in matching individual answers to each spirit animal. Internet tests, eh?

I think that my real spirit animal would be a tree, anyways. ;)

I don't want the big mean spirit animal that eats meat. I would have been happy with the deer, or a horse or a crow or the porcupine. OR A TINY LITTLE SALAMANDER! just not the chipmunk.

Also, a lot of people get the wolf who really shouldn't because frankly a lot of people who will tell you what your spirit animal is are just telling you what they think you want to hear.

Hmm.... lemme see... I think all I did for third year bio was Animal Behaviour (spent HOURS recording mating behaviour in salmon - not as spectacular as some of your stuff I bet) and Population Biology, which is more of a math course anyways. I kind of did a split between bio and chem, and dropped out after 3 years to take Environmental Technology and get working.

Strangely enough, I am probably most interested in plants, but never did any botany.

Some trimethylpentyltetrahydrobenzo[c]chromenol then? I am rather fond of these ones too:

I's a science and nature geek

Ornithology nerd, here, mostly related to raptors. Actually considered it as a field of academic study, until I realized I'd have to take more chemistry(got a very poor opinion of chem classes, thanks to my tenth-grade science teacher). Besides, it's more fun as a hobby, and two of my three target careers(curator/researcher, reference Librarian, or pro techie) involve general knowledge, so it's all good:cool: General-knowledge type jobs make it a good thing to be a history/art/theatre/fantasy/pirate/jewelry/costume/art history/ornithology/folklore/mythology geek;)

I play RPGs but this far I haven't done any LARP, a friend of mine is working on that though. Also I'm far too curious for my own good. -Oh look a desolated industry site! Let's climb the fence and take photos!:o

And about things that go boom, I met my SO when helping him to make on-stage explosives for our high school Christmas school play. On our first (sort of ) date we had to run from the cops, we were testing out the the right amount of black powder for the charges, on a nearby (and empty) school yard at 10 pm...
