It's a wonderful play. How many hundred years more will it continue to burn this brightly? My favorite lines are at the very end of the play, when Macbeth has learned that his foe will probably kill him, and have refused to surrender and be put in prison:

I say one thing, you just can't find that kind of villain any more. Can you HEAR the pride, the snarl from the wolftrap, the growl from the wounded bear? No shout for henchmen, no retreat, no surrender - I could have fought for a man like this. (yeah, yeah, it's just a play...let a man dream)

No need for that. Shea just has a habit of posting pictures that are striking in thier own right. I'm sure it would take her little effort to capture equally striking images of you. (hint hint!)

As for the new avatar, I love the work. The black background creates a nice canvas for the details that stand out. The pink in your hair creates the most obvious outline, and draws attention right into the middle of your face. (hey, this is the first image I've seen of you large enough to tell you have brown eyes!) In the more extended, full size photo, the patterned black shirt fades into background, keeping the center of attention on the facial expression. Which brings me to my last observation, that the facial expression conveys nothing. Not vacent, just nothing specific is conveyed, which adds a bit of mystery to the picture, in a "I wonder what she's thinking" sence.

Of course, I've also developed a bit of a tendancy to over-analyze art lately. Boy, did that ever start getting weird at Marscon while talking to the artists.

Heh. I died at the end of a larp by being clubbed to death by two mobsters. Know that many Norwegian larps have a lot less fighting than your typical american one; we have plots galore and lots of acting but at the cost of action. At this particular larp I had stood up at the intro and ask that if I was to be involved in any kind of violence then give it to me HARD; this both because I was playing a russian mobster with a military past in the Afghanistan war who'd been kicked out of the KGB for excessive use of violence, and because I'd had it up to here with people tiptoeing around in what was supposed to be violent worlds (my previous larp had been a yawner).
Well, my character was dark, violent and vindictive. Which was great! I'd written the role myself, wanting to get away from the more proper roles I'd been given until then. What I didn't expect was to be assigned as guard for the most socially skilled, flexible, nicest mobster boss in the whole world. Not a single enemy or threat for me to handle. It didn't help that one of my plotpartners became ill. I slowly understood that my character was completely superfluous....so I went Bad. Making scenes, making trouble, making enemies ;D When the showdown eventually came, I felt rewarded and well satisfied - I was run down and clubbed HARD to death by those two guys, just as another group was leading me out at gunpoint to be shot :D

Siege engineers and archers (in some places) generally have a large white diamond on their foreheads denoting that they are "lassez faire", they can hit you, but you can't hit them. Craftsmen include everything that a person would have taken as a trade in pre-1600 Europe, my personal favorites are the brewers...very good people to be friends with.

SCA value depends entirely on the local chapter unless you feel like traveling...

My local chapter when I was stationed in the seattle area was great, people enjoyed and didn't take it too seriously. As a member of the brewers guild... I was welcome everywhere

My local chapter now is full of prissy politico's that are vying for something... Not much fun when everyone is more concerned with the politics and drama then with fun of it... Here they want me to petition the local lord to join a house...Then earn a title and so forth... Fu** that If I wanna play then I want to play and have fun, not play politics...

Went I lived in Colorado, loved the SCA. Cool bardic types penning and playing music, swordsmen talking over traditional style of fighting versus contemporary, individual and large scale, and some kickass brewers.... or so I heard, since I was underage at the time....

Local group now.... people hittign each other with padded sticks (not all bad, but not the same) with NO light fenceing... the part I enjoyed. Crafts that feel like macaronni art. And politics.... lots and lots of politics... also a kick ass brewer, who I did get to sample... but he got black listed because he invited his friends to the brew sampleing, rather then the leaders politic.

So yeah, not part of the local SCA.

The first version called the Rk 60 was produced in 1960 and was internally almost a copy of the AK-47. It featured a metallic buttstock, a plastic handguard and pistol grip. The very first prototypes, closely modeled after Polish licence made AKs, had tinted birchwood stocks. After testing by the military, the Rk 60 was slightly modified and adopted as the 7.62 RK 62. The Rk 62 is considered a high quality AK-47 variant. This is apparent especially in its accuracy, as it can frequently achieve less than one minute of arc. The rifle uses a "peep" diopter sight, which is flipped over to reveal the open tritium enhanced rear night sight. The forward sight has also a mode for night operation. After basic training, some 30% of Finnish conscripts can score 93 or more points with ten rounds at 150 m distance with target shooting on Rk 62, the bullseye (10 points) diameter being 100 mm (I'm one of those 30% :D )

Rk 62 is almost universally liked for its accuracy and reliability, despite retaining the 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge which is generally considered obsolete. The IDF developed the Galil assault rifle on basis of Rk 62 [2]

The civilian version of the rifle is called M62S, and it is nearly identical in appearance to the Rk 62, except for the fire selector which lacks the automatic fire setting. Valmet has also produced a hunting rifle variant using a further development of the Rk 62 receiver, called Valmet Petra, "petra" being an old Finnish word for deer, chambered originally for .308 Winchester and .243 Winchester, but later also .30-06 Springfield and through aftermarket modification, 9.3 x 62. The Petra was marketed as the "Valmet Hunter" in the US and Canada. I'd be ripping into how angsty the Anita Blake series has become and a whole lot more if it wasn't for the fact that I'm drinking buddies with Hamilton's bodyguard and he's a semi-lurker here. :-)

I got addicted to the series back in '98 and read everything back to back from Guilty Pleasures all the way to Blue Moon (incidentally the WORST book in the series - writen like she did it merely to fill her publisher's quota or something). I think they started seriously going downhill at Burnt Offerings.

I was hoping that the series would get back into the swing of things and stop being thinly veiled porn once she created a series that doesn't even have the thin veil ( her Meredith Gentry novels ). No such luck.

Edward is still the sole reason I read the series.

About six and a half i think (i'm pretty sure we got her in early 2002). she's goofy, half blind and has been (half blind) since the first day we had her. about a year back i finally saw WHY. she's got a fuzzy patch (cataract?) in the middle of each eye. this makes her skittish and a little paranoid (how would YOU be if you were surrounded by giants you couldn't see clearly till they were 4 feet or less from you?), so it takes her forever to get used to new people. me though she seems to be able to identify by the rythum of my step or something. doesn't matter what vehicle or mode of transport i used to get there, by the time i reach the bottom step of the porch, she's at the front door jumping up and down in a manic manner, seeming to say "DADDY'S HOME, DADDY'S HOME!" (giving rise to the nickname "the Bitchkit-ball")

I miss the little bundle of nerves. been living and trying to find work in NC while wife, dog, and two cats are in Texas, since November (long story, another time). Annie (my wife) says the dog has been just "lost" the past few months.

yea those are cataracts. my dog ginger has them in each eye as well. but her's just came about recently-like in the last 4 months. my other dog sugar (i think there's a theme going on with the names) i think is getting them. but she's mean as hell. she weighs maybe 6 pounds but she will growl and bark at anything. she sounds liek a gremlin when she growls too!! it's awesome!!

Thanks guys. You can't see it, in the pics because the quality is poor, but around the pupils, I have a smattering of yellow. It's really odd. Some days the majority of the iris is a bright blue, with that almost black ring around the outside, and the yellow around the pupil. I lovies my eyes.

My eyes are blue with the circle around the outside but with green instead of yellow working its way in there.

For the eyes: my wife has the same yellowis hase around the pupil, and the green changes color with the amount of sun they get.

Mine change with my mood, the weather, and time of day. But for the most part they're green with the gold around the pupil and a dark blue ring on the out side. There have been times my eyes have turned orange but I didnt get to a mirror fast enough to confirm it.

Read somewhere that gold/yellow flecks are bits of fat on the iris... so a yellow ring means you have fatty eyes....

My eyes are brown and green, with yellow flecks, though they also have a habit of changing when I'm not looking....

I believe mass-produced food served in cafeterias and mess halls, no matter what they say about the source, all comes from one place, and therefore all tastes the same.

Could be worse, though. They could be serving you that Nutrablock, or whatever it's called. It's being used in prisons where they can't trust the prisoners with even plastic flatware.
