Who is your favourite role-playing character you have played so far and in what game?
(No need for stats unless they are really importent)
I think mine is Hannah Forthmier aka "psycho Hannah" from a A|STATE campaign. A neurotic/paranoid former mercenary.
I actually managed to outwit the GM a couple of times during that campaign (not easy he's smart and have gamed for something like 20 years), asking for information he didn't had and taking precautions he never thought of, that more or less made it impossible to move the game forward the way he had planned.:o
Like starting a fight on a train, take beating by the on train guards and then make sure to be thrown into custody, all this to avoid the thugs that where sent after me because I happen to have someone's notes that their boss wanted...
Said a lot of things like "you should be f***ing grateful I'm as paranoid as I am, it have saved your ass more times than I care to think of..." during the game, and booby-trapped a lot of doors...

So many to choose from....
But gonna go with Carak. Nosferatu on a IRC game. Started out as a quiet little nerdy accountant, too wussy to bother with picking on. Quietly made friends with just about everyone, got a reputation for being reliable and creative, slowly built in physical power as well as economic and political....
Eventaully ended up as a multi-national corporate CEO, powerhouse who could toss a bus, Primogen (leader) of the local nosferatu, and pretty much the guy in charge when the Prince wasn't around, and frequently top advisor when she was.
Not at all what I expected for a charecter that started out with the idea of 'I've been playing a lot of Malkavians.... what's as far froma Malk as I can think of?'

Arraf Hrool was a Wolfen archer in a Palladium Fantasy game I played at Origins 2002. The scenario, GM'd by gaming author Jason Vey, was centered on protecting a baby from the predations of a creature named Ceratus Dominus (think big nasty HIGHLY radioactive undead dragon). I and another player, also portraying a Wolfen, ended up the source of much of the humor of an otherwise dark adventure. The rule of thumb in this game seemed to be: "When it looks like you're about to die, start talkin' shit." EVERY time this happened, the die started rolling our way.
Anyway, Arraf's moment of glory came after he broke his signature weapon, a magic longbow. He got so pissed off, that he leaped from the tree where he was hiding onto Ceratus' right ass cheek, doing full double damage with his claws and bite. Thus he won the nickname Assbiter. I never played Arraf again, but I still have his character sheet.

It depends on the sytem.
AD&D My fav char was my first one. Made when I was all of 12. And has migrated through several campaigns over the years...
Charrina- F- Valley Elf/ Drow---- Yep she's hated by everybody in the elven worlds of D&D :dp: When I rolled her up she honestly got 18s for every stat. The GM and 3 other people at the table were All "You are so rolling up my next Character"
She was a thief that had such incredible luck the gm assigned her a luck stat. Probly to make up for how she entered that campaign. She was found by the party she joined... beaten to an inch of her life and held as a toy for some stinky orks. And had to have all gear and clothes donatd by the party. After that bout of bad luck she was incredibly lucky....
Her personality was that of a cat. Insatiable curiosity, and a bit of kleptomaniacy... Yep she was basically a kender, which did not exist yet.
She later went through the entire desert of desolation module series as a solo character. And engaged in several other campaigns. Winding up collecting a Demi-lich as a WMD, and Working herself well on the way to becoming a god of luck.

Ahh, my favorite character would most definantly have to be Chet Roffler.
He was a cyberpunk character.
I might as well just post the story line so it all kinda makes sense.
First, for those of you unfamiliar, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_2020 will explain what it's all about.
Anywayse, hes a Powered Armor pilot, Once rode along side the leader of the bloodrazors on a gang war, is running to be mayor of night city and tends to shred everything in his path with very big bullets.
But funny thing is hes a good politician.
He was in the army for 6 years and prison for 4 before that.
I wrote a back story for him, ill post it if anyones interested.

That would have to be Brioche, a female half elven CN ranger (AD&D) from about 20 years ago. She could do nothing wrong. And yes I know brioche is a type of bread. I took a lot of flak from my then husband about it. I just liked the name.
Travellar

heeheeeheee... I've got a couple of fun ones.
Travellar
My original RPG charecter. Staerted off as an Elementalist in Earthdawn. picked up some warrior skills because he could, and it was cool. Learned from every school of magic, and used "alter self" so often and to such an extent the GM just gave it to me as an inate ability when someone actually tried calling me on not having rolled the dice. I pretty much had to be unconcious to even figure out what my charecter looked like after a while. (skin/hair color, fur? scales? height, weight, build, likelyhood of swinging from trees by his tail?) Being my first game, and still being the annoying kid at the table, I had a few social problems with other party members at times. I also tended to die alot for unexpected reasons. That pretty much led to a number of umm... behaviors that grew to be part of Travellar's personality, even as I shifted the charecter from one game to another. Basicly, He went stark raving mad. If your campaigns have ever had charecters notice a hooded and cloaked figure rowing overhead in his canoe, that was probrably him. (see the earlier comments on his use of magic and lunacy if you're confused why the canoe is flying.)
My other favorite is a half orc mercenary (Barbarian) by the name of Gronk.
Gronk could make even the cleverest munchkin rethink thier stratagy, mostly because the things he'll tend to do are legal. Since I've had to play up the same charecter on more than one occasion, (do to campaigns that suddenly and unexpectedly stopped), he's pretty much got his own M.O. for first through third levels. It's built around 'the Wagon'.
Step 1) go on adventure, aquire cash.
Step 2) Use cash to buy a wagon. Use Wagon to haul more ridiculously large amounts of loot back to town on next adventure. Ropes, pullys, chisels, and shovels can help here. If it looks, smells, sounds, or even tastes like loot, it's going in the wagon. Orcs for example, give great loot, once you take thier skulls for bounty, all thier armor and weapons for resale or scrap, wineskins, boots, teeth, rings...
Step 2a) wash rinse repeat to accomplish step three.
Step 3) build up armored sides for the wagon, (oaken is good), with firing slits for bows and crossbows. Bard the Warhorses, scythe the wheels, fit the yoke for a heavy lance, and get a hireling if neccissary to drive the wagon. Also build in lockboxes for supplies and high-value loot.
Step 4) use the non-combat proficiencies of the hireling in combat. Yes, I mean thier driving skill. Only twice did the guy trying to GM this mess throw a pair of Ogres in front of us for a toll/roadblock. We ran them over. The only reason we stopped was to go back and loot the area. After the second time I pulled that stunt, I've never seen an Ogre roadblock.

Tough one to answer.
I think my favorite has to be Samwise Shadowfoot that I played in a AD&D game. He was a halfling thief that wasn't the smartest character around, he was evil and at times totally random in his behavior. He was also a drunkard and easily charmed by shiny things. And as most thieves he was very selfish which lead to him being much richer than the rest of the party. He would at random open chest cautiously or recklessly, causing many accidents that damn near killed him, and sometimes those around him. He also quite often got the party in a lot of trouble just for opening his big mouth. He met his death after the only person he would call friend, a drow in the party, got robbed by a hooker and Sam had to join in the hunt and subsequent fight to get the drows stuff back, which ended with him getting caught in a web spell thrown by the drow and then getting stabbed with a poisoned blade by the hooker and dying instantly. Resurrection was tried, he failed miserably after rolling a 100. I sometimes miss playing him, his total randomness and mischievious streak was a blast to play.

I liked Grendel the best. Gregorian was funny and Speshul most certainly decribes cap...

Frank Kendall...or something like that...
I was trying to create a character for a Macross II/Robotech-hybrid game (being that they were from the same "universe" and made by the same company, I mixed both books to make it more interesting...). I was going for a Destroid pilot (Doing 6000+ damage is fun...) but I ended up with a character who's stats didn't meet ANY of the prereqs (Mostly 8's and below...)...Normally I would have rerolled but being that we'd agreed on a "no rerolling stats" rule, I decided against it. Now imagine this bum/hobo-type character running around with a group of high-intelligence Veritech pilots and Military agents. I ended up screwing up more than one mission. Shooting blindly into a smoke filled room and detonating the entire weapons storage area was not a smart manuever nor was punching a Zentradi in the head with a Destroid fist (It was required that we be in a mecha for a mission and the pilot was incapaciated. The Zentradi's banter was annoying me so I decided to knock him out and lean him against a wall...I ended up getting 3 on the attempt to knock him unconcious, a 20 on the to-hit roll and a 4 on the D4 for damage roll...thus doing 800 SDC to a 50 SDC unprotected head.). Unfortunately, I lost Frank when we were trying to jump out of a van: I had him jump, tuck, and roll out the side of the van...unfortunately, I didn't check to see where we were and went into oncoming traffic. I can say, he had beautiful form in the manuever...until the truck hit him.

The Stalenger was fun.
It's an airborne giant jellyfish mystic ... and communicates by adopting stained-glass-like patterns on its skin. No talking allowed.
These patterns can include camouflage, and it has enough tentacle strength to choke passing plebs.

wow, I haven't seen moreta or darlica in ages.
My favourite is TNT himself. He was one of my characters everyone liked and everyone was afraid of.
Bombs, napalm, traps and my favourite straight jacket made it dangerous to even TOUCH him. You'd more than likely set something off. He annoyed people by dancing in the middle of fights and still winning. Always playing around, whether it was with his team mates or an enemy. Half the time he'd kiss the pretty girl trying to kill him, then run away again giggling like a school girl. He had a hell of an intentive mind as well, using cesspits and combustion engines to power the base in the near apocolyptic waste land. The sort of guy who remember your birthday and got you a sword for it. More than a bit of a machokistic side from dating the psychotic schitzofrenic mace wielding girl from the other side.

only ever played 3rd Ed. D&D. actually i've played one partial campaign each of Rifts and Paranoia (now THAT was a hoot), but it's been 15 years so.. i don't remember.
anyway. fave would have to have been Phelan Drumheller, the ranger i first used in a friend's "i bought Libris Mortis and had a DM-gasm" campaign. it's fun to teach a DM why you DON'T tell the guy who likes to play rangers (and thus knows "favored enemy" stacks) that in the world you built 60% or more of the random encounters are with "undead".:dgrin:
course i liked Phelan for the other things i did with him, or at least things done in games that i used him in.
at the intro of a mini-campaign another character showed up while Phelan was on watch, no big deal cept it's a dark, middle of a thunderstorm, camp was made in group of grave mounds (oh i hadn't said yet, Phelan has a "thing" about graveyards), and the approaching character is appearing out of the storm dressed in a black deep-hooded cloak and is carrying a scythe! the grizzled, crusty ranger proceeded to check his pulse and crap his kilt
his animal companion was a Miniature Pinscher (the PHB just says "dog" in the list of acceptable critters, not what breeds). so big tough ranger with a dog less than a 18" tall.
he wasn't one of the ones directly involved but he WAS a witness, to "critting with a monk". the paladin in the group, drank a strength potion and a potion of truestrike, picked up the monk(who had a feat to be able to swath his hands in fire or some such) and tossed him at some big bad nasty of a monster, guy playing the paladin, rolled double nat 20s!!
not to mention just prior to that the monk killing an Ettin with his , well "package"

My wife told me i HAVE to share her fave as well....
Female Sourcerer in ORIGINAL D&D (yes i married an older woman), back when many DMs didn't allow players to re-roll 1s when do stat rolls in character creation, Charisma 18 every other stat between 3 and 6! oh and at the time Annie (my wife) had all the dice karma of a wet sponge.
the sourcerer had ONE useful skill (usefull to her at least) she could get the rest of the party, various NPCs, etc to do things FOR HER.
Annie took this character from Lvl 1 to like 15, by 15 she'd managed to "buff the fluff-girl" enough to have a respectable, and useful to the party character.
