Hiyas Jennie! I'm a brand new viewer of your excellent webcomic and I must say I've been enjoying it thoroughly. I've spent the last 3 days or so (between peksy things like work and sleep) reading from the beginning, and it's been a great ride. I still have a ways to go to catch up with the current one, but I felt the need to say hi and great job! I'm hoping I can catch you at a Con sometime soon (buying your comics will be so much better face to face) as soon as I can afford to get to one nearby. (I'm in Upper Michigan, where it gets even colder than Novi...hehheh) My wife enjoys your strip as well when she's reading over my shoulder. (She has her own computer too, but she's addicted to World Of Warcraft. Hmn, she plays WoW and I read your wecomics.....isn't this backwards?) Anyhoo, back to reading, and again, GREAT WORK!

Yay hordes of friendliness!
Pirate Bear: I kinda sorta play now and then too, but we have one account so it's pretty much hers. I'm hip to anything that keeps her happy while I'm doing other things but we still spend plenty of time together so it all works out.
Sehson: Thank you muchly too :)
Mike: I love pasties! Did you know you can order them online from anywhere now? No joke! http://www.pasty.com/
I don't hunt though, so that might make me somewhat unyooperish...
meghasissues: it's never too late for pounces :):):)
CrazeyAl: Eeeek! Hehehehehe

Hello Jauntx the Yooper, I'm Reo the JAFA! What does your reginal nickname mean? :p
Jauntx
09-05-2007, 11:07 AM
Tori: So he was a fraternity Malk? heheheheh
Hi Reo! MadCap is my nick on irc, and is a reference to the obscure Marvel Comics "villain" of the same name. JauntX refers to a roleplaying character in a game I self-produced that may actually be published some time before I die of old age.

A "Yooper" is someone from the upper peninsula of Michigan. Yooper is just "Upper", but you pronounce the U. Hehehe!

see! i shoulda known that. but all i really remember from my days as a yankee is the hand thing. i lived on the chunk of muscle that connects to the the thumb but is really the palm. i only used it when i was lost. but it did me no good cause i was lost at a rest stop in kentucky in the process of moving to georgia.

I can only imagine what a Michigander who has lived in Georgia for a while sounds like. :p

I know a couple people that live in Atlanta and they don't have a southern accent....I guess that gets fed into the water in the outer burbs

The weirdest accent I'd ever heard was an Aussie lady that lived in the Deep South for twenty years. She sounded like she was drunk.

i dunno if i sound weird or not. i get told i sound yankee here, but i go up north i'm pure redneck o.O
Jauntx
09-06-2007, 10:58 AM
If one could combine Southern with Yooper, accent-wise, I'd have to agree that it would most definitely sound verrrrrrrry interesting. I don't have a Yooper accent myself, despite the years I've been here. I've been to so many places around the world in my lifetime, I don't really have a particular accent.

When I first moved to the South, I was told I spoke very clearly, but a little fast for people to understand. 13 years later I still speak largely the same way accept I've developed a bit of a Southern twang in my speech. My wife also says I get full southern redneck when I'm pissed off.
...but a little fast for people to understand...
Im being told I talk rather fast when Im on my job (Im a surveyer, or whatever you guys cal it). I just hope Im not like Foamy, though I keep getting the feeling I am...

Next time they say you sound like a Yankee, tell 'em you ain't from the Northeast. :p

or if you get too far south, it's yanqui!
Big Otis Landfish
09-06-2007, 03:55 PM
Too far north and it's just Yank, and we're probably more likely to pick up on a southern accent than a northern one.

i've got a couple new yorkers that their favorite form of stress releif is to call me up and make me say as many odd words as they can find. i think we're at p in one's dictionary.
theres also a couple of people here that do it they just don't realize WHY they do it. in fact one just can't get over how i say pussy. i don't see how i say it wrong but apparently i do.

Aha I see! Yes, that's what I was asking about. I'm a JAFA, or Just Another Fucking Aucklander. *Blush* That's the nickname bestowed upon people like me who come from NZ's largest city. It's so unfair tho, I'm discriminated against because of the Pajero-driving wankers who can afford to go to the skifields or where-have-you all the time! *grumble*

Yooper can be somewhat of a derogatory term too, if it weren't for the fact that pretty much all yoopers are proud to be yoopers...
but basically, a true yooper has the yooper accent (finnish meets canadian pretty much....ya eh?) and is stereotypically a deer hunter who eats nothing but pasties and drinks beer and wears swampers (big rubbery snow boots) and hats with ear flaps... Well, if you want an idea, look up the band Da Yoopers.

it has been more then 11 years since i last stayed in michigan more then 2 days and i STILL say "eh?" on occassion. then again that might be some of the ohio more then the michigan... my only real claim to michigan life is my musical tastes. and most michiganers don't even like ICP
Drat-Drat
09-15-2007, 02:02 AM
Nooo! ICP aren't real clowns, they're fake propogandists that use their music to subliminally force people into wanting to kill...Them. My friends make me listen to them all the time, and I really want to kill them. All of them. O_o
