Ok, so the first mate walks out onto the deck one morning and sees the captain standing there with the SHIP'S WHEEL attached to his crotch!
He points and says "Cap'n! The ship's wheel be stuck to yer....er.....there!"
The captain replies "Arrrr! I know! It's drivin' me nuts!!!"

Its a whell, but its called the "helm" sadly my sailboat doesn't have a helm, only the rudder. :( Next boat I get I'm making sure it has a helm.

Last time I was sailing a boat, I was the helm. I used the tiller to control the rudder. I was holding onto a sheet, too, and using it to control a large piece of flat textile that wasn't a sheet.

If you tell the Army to "secure the building", they take out all the glass, take out the floorboards inside the ground floor entrances, put up mesh, dig grenade sumps, clear out a backwash vent for a rocket launcher and set up machine-gun positions with overlapping arcs of fire.

If you tell the RAF to "secure the building", they take out a transferrable 25-year mortgage with capped variable interest rate and no early settlement fee.

If you try to tell the Marines to "secure the building", they won't hear you say "building". They'll hear "secure" and by the time you've said "the" they'll all be down the bar in dresses and make-up.

tell the navy to secure a building, and he'll lock the doors and post a fire watch. (unless the sailor happens to be a seabee...he'll nail shut every door, weld comshaw'ed corrugated tin over every window, and put 3 heavy machineguns (with crews) on the roof......CAN DO!)

tell the air force to secure a building, and they'll get a 25 year lease with an option to buy...

tell the army to secure a building, and they'll kick down all the doors and kill and/or flex-cuff anyone inside.

tell the marines to secure a bulding, and they'll call in artillery and airstrikes, and secure what's left.

so, did anyone do anything or dress up for pirate day? I dressed up, went to the beach with 2 friends and dueled with the giant glowy lightsabers. :)

I dressed up last year and had me classes as a pirate. It was fun. Nothing this year though.

I suppose a helm could go on that part of the anatomy too, but it might change the punchline.....
