View Full Version : Anti-spam measures

New accounts are now moderated until we've seen what they have to post. We'll manually change people to registered user when we're happy with them.

There's a new human verification system in place for registration as well. Not sure what it does, but hopefully it should cut down on some of the crap.

i think the human verification is like most bords where to register you have to type the :code: shown in the colorfull or greyd box. hope this helps

Thanks for the heads up, but I'd like to keep this as minimalist as possible. I use similar sort of methods on the CS forum where I have a team of a dozen people logging in regularly to check for moderated posts, and it does put some genuine users off.

I'd prefer this place to be as friendly as possible.

Umm, what about those of us who aren't technically human? :(

For the purposes of this thread, anyone of a species not named for a Hormel brand luncheon meat is considered human. You're in the clear, Troll-king! :)

New accounts have had a problem in that they couldn't ... post. I should have rectified this. Anyone still having problems, please nudge me.

Just wanted to let you know it's working for this cucumber. Only thing I can't do is edit, include attatchments and comment on someone's profile.

05-01-2009, 02:56 PM
Should be able to do that now. If you can't, let me know about it.

Looks like it relaxed a bit too much, spambot made it through :( Thank you for all the efforts, btw!

Have asked one of the admins on one of my other sites - he implemented the very successful one we have there - to have a look. Hopefully he'll either give me pointers or implement it.

I'm the admin from CS he mentioned. I'm tweaking some things now. Hopefully it won't interfere with anything. If you see any posts from "Edward T. Hunter", don't panic. He's a test account I set up for this purpose.

Our madness is fun. The madness MiketheMad has to deal with on CS kinda sucks.
