Somehow it doesn't seem right to have the words "this forum" and "safe" in the same sentence, but in this case, I think you're correct! :)

Thanks, Jennie!

8000 / 365 = 21 years!
Hmm, possible. But is it likely?

Scary signs you're getting old:

* going to a classmate's little sister's wedding, hanging around at the house before it, seeing another guest drive up, thinking she's seriously hot ... and then discovering she's going out with the bride's younger brother.

* checking the age of consent for lesbians in Italy and finding out you're twice it.

JennieB
10-07-2007, 04:23 PM
*got on a ride at the fair and started out with the high pitched "weeee!" for the first part of the ride and the second part of the ride just groans of "uuuungh"

*we had to wait a half our between rides to let our stomachs settle. I didn't used to have to wait between the "hammer" and the "scat cat" when I went to the fair!

*the songs that they played at your prom are now on a "best of..." cd.

*you find one of your favorite recordings (tape, record, eight track) and a teenager can't figure out how it would fit in a cd player.

*you know the pass code to get unlimited life on Contra.

*you know what Contra is.

*you own "vintage" clothes only because you have never cleaned out your closet.

*you go to a wedding of someone who you've changed their diapers.

Crazeyal
10-07-2007, 08:00 PM
*Your "adult beverage" includes bran.

*You creak and pop.. while sitting...

*The last sobbing fit you had was when you realized you were turning the stero DOWN.

*People pay to NOT see you in spandex!

*You get 3 hours sleep, but it involves teething, not LARPing...

Kamn

Not realy. Myself and my brother were able (and are still able) to do that willingly and unwillingly since the age of 15...

See it was when the music I dug in High School started hitting the classic rock stations that I started feeling it. Now stuff when I was growing up is on oldies stations. Sigh....

Imagine the odd feeling of hearing Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" on an oldies station. I had that experience a couple of years ago.

RazorJAK

At least Billie Jean was EARLY 80s! Hell it was near the birth of Mtv.

I'm hearging STP and GnR on classic rock stations now. THAT hurts! Shit that came out AFTER I graduated high school is now consider oldies.

Oh, it gets better.

Just wait until you hear a smooth jazz instrumental version of your favorite rock tune.

"Hey, that sounds familiar. . .what is that? That isn't...NO! It couldn't be! It is! Holy ****! They can't do that, can they? NO! It can't be!"

Then relatives find you curled up in the fetal position on the floor mumbling to yourself.

That happens to me in elevators. People in there with me never understand why I suddenly burst out weeping.

You don't have to wait long for THAT. Muzak was inflicting that sort of horror on Guns 'n' Roses' Appetite for Destruction when that album was just a year old.

I heard a hip hop song that re-vamped a Michael Jackson original. When I commented on it, the kid next to me said "you mean Michael Jackson did a re-make of this song?"
I think someone on this forum showed their kid Voltron and the kid said "Oh, it's just a re-make of Power Rangers."
I've started to see re-makes of movies and TV showes that I used to watch. I still have the original toys for Mask, He-man, and GI Joe.

I remember when I first heard Manson's horrid remake of "Sweet Dreams". Someone walked by and commented how they like the original ( ie referring to the Manson version ) as opposed to "that lesbo girl's" remake.

I don't often use my "gameface" outside of work. This was one of them.

I've heard similar comments about Voltron. It's doubly funny when the kid doesn't realize Power Rangers is a remake of various shows from Japan.

Heh, the 1980's Joes are a remake of the older 12" ones from the 1960's and 70's. *Is the right age to have played with BOTH. :D*

Someone's attempt to pitch an idea for a movie: "It's Die Hard ... in a tower block!"

ASDA (now part of the Wal*Mart family, so I don't shop there any more) always had crap "cover" versions of songs playing. The original artists quite often got a sale out of that (from some other shop, obviously) as I bought the original to purge the crap from my mind.

Muzak was inflicting that sort of horror on Guns 'n' Roses' Appetite for Destruction when that album was just a year old.

Some people can do it well, though. I went to a wedding, and during the register signing, there was a slow piano solo. As the soloist played, it dawned on some that what we were hearing was Guns 'n' Roses. Granny never suspected a thing...

1.) That Voltron quip is blasphemy! I'd need bail money if someone said that around me.

2.) I still have all my G.I. Joe toys. I was an addict. Oh, the battles I would wage were epic!

Weren't cartoons in the 80's great? M.A.S.K., G.I. Joe, Transformers, He-Man...all just there to sell toys. And it worked. I didn't care. The G.I. Joe cartoons were like scripture to me. Taped them all. Wish I had saved them. As I got older, I taped over them.

With crudely unscrambled porn, I think. :o

Remember when porn was on regular cable TV, just with a scrambled picture? You could hear everything. It'd be right in between two regular channels, too! "Hmmm...TBS *click*, ESPN *click*, porn *click*, Lifetime..."

Anyway, I've heard there's a G.I. Joe movie in the works.

*Still trying to get Jem on DVD*
Now all the 00's versions of 80's versions of 60's clothes are in the shops and on teenagers, and oversized white tees with 80's song lyrics printed in fluro colours are on 12 year old girls everywhere, and there are teenagers on the planet who were born in the Nineties... *Shudder* Add to that the remakes of songs that were out when you were in school, and it all starts to make one feel almost 3 decades old.... :p

omg, Jennie in Amsterdam. I envision mad dashes of kilt hunting outside, in the daytime, while the tourists gawp and the Dutch burgers stolidly go about their business. Accompanied by the strains of a dozen different tunes of all genres, played by variety of street musicians. And in the breeze, the gentle incense of tulips and marijuana smoke.
