So I'm thinking a slice-of-life comic isn't my forte. It requires a quotent of predictability and cohesiveness that I can only apply to one part of the comic at a time. So I have a new, more fantastic, surreal little comic I am fondly calling Pandas and African Kangaroos (http://www.drunkduck.com/Pandas_and_African_Kangaroos). I'm doing a once a week update schedule, on thursdays. The Pandas are introduced, and I'm working a comic strip on the pink icing (It's in the description), but the African Kangaroos are currently on the drawing board. I'm not very good at drawing their guns.
So yea, I hope you enjoy. I'm currently updated through the 18th of December.

So apparently the 'abstract blobbyness' confused a friend of mine.
can anyone else tell it's a quick doodle of someone wrapped up in a blanket? Or are 2 AM doodles out of the question?

I'm certain their brains will explode on the first date. causing a loss of IQ that of course will aid in the marital bliss.
I figure kitty! would be livid at the thought of being sold and at the thought of marrying someone who didn't graduate from ranger school. but he'd show up and do something sweet, like give her flowers and look sheepish and she'd turn to wet cement. then at dinner I expect them to totally spaz out. which is where the brain exploding would take place.
after that the parental bargaining happens.

I Think Kitty is waiting to be out of the household to fully explore sweaty options. She will Undoubtedly hit college and turn down MANY a fratboy. THEN she'll fall hard for a philosophy major, get her heart broke and DEVASTATE the scrimmage line in revenge.

Ok...that site? Creepy. Especially as I'm noticing a severe lack of anyone over the age of 16 being posted for sale...much less 18+
Edit: Ok, I take it back. There's an 18-year-old listed right under the 13-year-old who "got an A in Home Ec. and has read up on what else would be expected of her as a wife and is looking forward to it."

Likely greedy parents or time travelers from a few hundred years ago. They all claim that the daughters want to be married and technically you can't force someone to marry, but I'm sceptical about the whole deal. For the obvious reasons.

they put a prce on theown daughters' heads pretty easy :| i don't know which is the more disgusting monster. the peddy that takes out the second mortgage for the girls, or their parents for being such worthless selfish disgusting pigs.
the peddy i can almost understand. when something flips your switch it flips it. its not right and should definately be punished fully and completely, but its not like they can decide what really tweaks their buttons.
but the parents?! they deserve greater amounts of torture then the peddys. you do not sell your daughter before shes even old enough to get her first trainer.

I checked out the site and it's actually a hoax, the creator made it to create awarness about arranged marriages going on in America and to do something about it, check out the "About Us" section for videos explaining. He got 70 million hits and like 3 thousand proposals and 3 thousand 'sign up our daughter'

While I don't think arranged marriages are necessarily a bad thing, I'm glad to hear that this site is a hoax. Children under the age of 18 shouldn't be put on the block to auctioned off like cattle. Now it's an entirely different story for those 18 and older. *insert wicked grin here*

EH it still happens though.
Shit 2 friends when I was in highschool some 20+ years ago. were engaged to 20somethings when they were 14...
The parrents even encouraged it and were very religious... The funny thing was the parrents thinking it was OK for the 14 yr old girl to go stay the weekend with 20 something fiance (sp) whom was in college because they were engaged...
Yep and people wonder why some kids wind up sooooooo fucked up...

I was wondering whether you got the full image after proposing or something.

Probably not, because it's not technically illegal as far as i know. Teenager girls can get married in most American states at 13 and boys at 14 with parental permission
Leffy
12-02-2007, 03:43 AM
not here o.O legal age of consent and marriage is now fully and completely 16 and 17 years respectively. the laws were all "fixed" after that one chick got away with marrying her 15 year old baby daddy because of an outdated law concerning any relationship where a child is made.

One of my favorite great-aunts when I was little(maternal grandmother's older sister) got married when she was 14, against her parents' wishes...not sure how old my great-uncle was at the time, but they wound up having to go to SC from Georgia to get hitched, and they had to find someone else willing to take her across the border because otherwise he'd get in trouble for abducting her, crossing state lines with a minor, etc. It was a love-match, not arranged, and lasted till he died, about ten years ago...and from what I remember from when I was little, they stayed in love that whole time.
That was, however, a different time(said aunt was also one of 17 children), and while it makes a romantic story now, knowing how long they stayed together and in love and how things turned out...if I found out any child of mine, or one of my cousins, or the siblings' kids was going to try something like that I'd likely chase 'em down and give 'em what-for.

That's pretty much your DUTY as the aunt/older sibling/parent.. If they can withstand your ire, they have a shot. It's a given that young people have no CLUE... but either they are too clueless to listen to reason and/or force or they really ARE mature and in-love enough to make it. Either way, you have done your part.

it WAS a different time then. and honestly i think our predecessors were smarter at younger ages then us. because the last generation or two's intelligence was diluted in the influx of drugs, alcohol, and "I won't raise my kids like my parents!" froofroo ness.
discipline good. love good. using love as the excuse to let your kid turn out dumber then a box of rocks... well we're going to hell in a handbasket already lets add flowers.

From what i hear, it is because sesame street wasn't nearly as PC in those days and we must protect our children from such scenes as black kids playing on a farm, psychedelic counting songs, and cookie monster gobbling cookies or smoking a pipe then eating it (god i miss monsterpiece theater).

Ah the pipe, I remember the pipe. That was awesome.
There was a commercial a couple months back that was the dirtiest thing that sesame street has ever done. There were new tickle me elmo's and cookie monsters. But the cookie monster looks like he's fellating himself and Elmo's body is censored (because what's new about him is a surprise) and of course I saw this commercial late at night and surrounded by young people. We almost died.
