Ooo, tough choice. I'm not sure what MoCCA is, but SDCC and Dragon*Con are both good conventions. SDCC is more focused on the comics side of things with some multimedia thrown in (ex. a lot of the cast from Stargate: Atlantis will be in panels). Dragon*Con is more focused on ... well, it really isn't focused all that well in any given fandom or interest. There's something for everybody. :D

Anyways, like I was saying, I'm going to keep an eye out for the 2008 DragonCon and sign up for tables right away.

Funny, this year, I inquired early about Artists Alley there, and they had me fill out a Guest form Application. I didn't hear anything for months. By the time I got in touch with them to find out what was going on, the show was sold out.

Do any of you know about any military bases that are feasibly close to the convention? I'm trying to gather a bunch of friends together for Dragon COn next year and the only ones who've conveyed any sense of interest are military brats, but we're under 21. This means we can't make hotel reservations. However, since two of us are 18+, and all of us are military, we can stay at military lodging.

However, google has proved useless this time, and I wonder if any of you guys know about military bases in atlanta and if you could give me their names so I can google them and find out more information.

And why am I plotting this a year in advance? We will be poor college students taking an 11 hour drive down to Georgia. We need as much preparation as we can get.

The Air Force has facilities up by Marietta GA because of the presence of Lockheed Martin. At some point in the recent past, there was also a Marine Corps facility up that way as well. I'm not sure if they're still around, though.

Judging by the care packages we've brought in the past, I doubt it'll be a problem. You are correct, sir! WH 40k Imps are so much better :3

Also, they're far more loose in design. Especially since we're going as Cadians. We're setting it up so we have football pads for armor (spray painted and modded). One of us has a comissar's hat (once we find it) and the other two have helmets we bought at Otakon. We've also modded nerf guns into lasguns (the Longshot works well for this) and also one of the 6-shooting nerf guns (the Maverick, I think) that we modded into an autopistol for the comissar.

I'm going as a psyker who's scavenged an Arbites shotgun (as this was easier than making the staff) and who's wearing part of the Arbite's armor along with an aegis hood and a cloak. It's easier with the materials at hand; a shotgun, football pads, a jedi cloak, and a lot of spray paint are/is all I needed.

In the end, we might not look exactly like Cadian Imperial Guard, but we'll look pretty damn awesome nonetheless. I don't think hardly anyone got into the Pirate Party. I heard it was capped at 100 attendees and had reached capacity by 10:30PM, an hour before it was supposed to start. Not pointing fingers but someone definitely slipped up in the scheduling of this party (and a lot of other ones I heard of as well).

I'll ask one of my roommates about the Cruxshadows show. She was one of the con security for the show. I don't like to bitch about the con, but there were some really fuck-ups and/or major lapses in reasonable planning. Capping the Pirate Party to 100 people? I could have held 250 easily. Voltaire asking to perform there a week before the con should have been a big-ass clue that it was going to be a huge party. :cry:

And I still want to meet the Popsicle girl. Speaking of unusal women, did you guys see the girl in the duct tape bikini??? No, there's nothing under that (I asked as I have no shame ... sometimes) so she pretty much gives herself a Brazilian when it comes off. :d8o:
