The portfolio section of my site is all updated now, take a look.

www.shealynn.name (http://www.shealynn.name/)

I'm still workin on the pictures section. But that's not really the artsy stuff, it's just snapshots.

Lemme know what ya think.
Also if you find anything on my site isn't working then lemme know and I'll fix it.

well, not really. it springs from having ridiculously long legs while having a 30" waist, can never get trousers with a long enough leg so its either have hairy man leg on show or get kneee high socks.

knee high socks also help with motorcycle boots too so its practical reasons, though yes they do look cool ^^

If you want kinky i got a sheepskin rug in my room thats just ludicrously soft and smooth. it has its uses ;)

A note regarding sheepskin rugs: those fine, soft hairs can get right up someone's nose when you're trying to give a massage, and utterly spoil the effect. Get a silk pillowcase or something to cover the end and prevent this.

Now to check out the Shea site. Back in a few hours. ;)

DarkPirateShea
01-26-2008, 12:24 AM
I use a Sony Cybershot DSC-W100. I also have a W50, which is almost the same camera, but with better macro (2cm! it's SO cool!), which seems odd considering that it is the model BEFORE the W100.

I always run my photos through photoshop. Even if it is only to brighten them up a smidge or to up the contrast a little. And the ones with me in them usually have to be fixed a little in the face as far as getting rid of blemishes and such.

My mom uses a Sony H9. And she does more of the sort of photography that it sounds like you are interested in. With the outdoors and animals and such. Her camera does really well with that and it has a 10x zoom.
Also she works in the camera dept at Best Buy and is always going on about cameras so she knows what she's talkin about.

edit: Also, for a pic to really be good, it should be a good picture just ANYWAY. Like, before you touch it with any editing program. Editing should be used as icing on the cake, not as a method of covering up a bad picture, like dunking a cupcake in icing to cover the fact that it is burt to a crisp.

DarkPirateShea
01-26-2008, 12:48 AM
That will be done via Dragon Con and/or Renn Fest.
Mel has to buy herself a bodice this next Renn Fest so she can look more piratey anyway.

Besides, I have ideas for pictures involving pretty dresses but they are all full body shots so I can't use myself as the model cuz that would get too complicated and probably end up not working out right anyway.

CptCalico
01-26-2008, 12:54 AM
Okay, something simpler and more basic then.... May I suggest something with thin silk scarves in various colors? They accent your hair, and as all the arabians knew it makes your eyes ten times as interesting if scarves cover the rest of your face. And girl, your eyes are quite interesting just as they are. With black scarves and some good smart makeup you become the modern arabian woman, while with only a blue up to your eyes and the red hair flowing it's 1001 night we see. I know you can work this further much better than I can imagine it, so I'll shut up on this one.

DarkPirateShea
01-26-2008, 01:09 AM

edit: okay: good news I can still fit in the dress. Bad news is I can't send a good picture of me *in* the dress. But it's this red dress with this clingy black netty thing with flowery details over the red part so the dress ends up looking blood-like.

I wore it to my 8th grade prom and 9th grade homecoming. unfortunately I don't have pictures of me from either event.

Given what's been divulged elsewhere about the shape of Kitty's body, and the current state of her hair...

I'd say go with the Pirate in a bodice look. Any slimming of your waist (though unneccisary) will create an exageration of the curves of your hips. Since you've also stated you have, ahem, upper body endowment, a bodice will create appealing effects at the top AND bottom. Tights, vice trousers, for the legs, as well as striking some heroic poses into a slight wind (silk scarves again become a neccesity) should give you the desired level of drool and awe from admiring crowds.

well, that was a fun little rant. I'm suddenly inclined to take up hat making. Pirate hat making, that is!

glad you like the top, looks even better when using poi, one of my mates has a set in the exact same colours.

I believe in a working pirate's getup. In other words, linen.

Lithanial
01-28-2008, 10:35 AM
ah yes, but then that doesnt have quite the flair now does it, and with my build, baggy linen probably wouldn't work anywhere near as well as a close fitting flowing silk top. sure the linen can work but if your gonna go fancy pirate costumes then you should go the whole hog and get clothes fit to be a captain.

wonder how much a decent set of breeches would cost :D

CptCalico
01-28-2008, 10:41 AM
Well, fancy is different. My, why didn't I realice you were going to dress up as a fancyboy? ;D In that case, co with frills. With no frame and a baggy you'll look like you have set sails

Lithanial

If you knew saying you were pregnant would stop you getting hanged you sure as hell would fake it if you had to; but hey, being hanged reportadly must have some pleasure to it. hanged guys have a tendency to spew all over themselves after all :jbangel:

doesnt quite make up for the whole...being dead thing though i'd imagine .

CptCalico
01-28-2008, 12:28 PM
Well, if I was in the middle of being hanged a bit of upchucking or other fluid releases wouldn't be my primary concern.

You are aware that hanging usually means having your neck snapped by the force of your weight x acceleration, right? Most often that means instant death. Sometimes they would fuck it up and the victim would kick around wildly while being choked. At that point the executioners would grab onto the body's feet and yank down, to get it over with. Partly because that might lead to sympathy with the victim. Fun fact: the rope knot should be by the victim's ear, not in the neck.

Compared with, say, the 'humane' death of a slowly working poison injection or the ever fun coughing to death on gas - not to mention the being-grilled-to-death variant - a rope becomes a positively benigh way to go. Also because execution batallions tend to hate firing at someone tied to a stake, so at least only the executioner get sleepless nights rather than a group of hapless soldiers if there's cause for cause for regret.

More fun facts: self-asphyxiation is one of those games only serious thrillseekers should have in their erotic reportoair. If you mess it up, you are going to have a veeeeery long last minute as the noose flattens your trachea and you realise just how stupid you'll look to those who find you...

Lithanial

I don't see Bonney sharing too well, even with her best friend... 'Sides, Reade had another fella on board...he got himself into a duel and the other guy was significantly better at fighting and shooting...so she as "Mark" challenged the other guy to another duel, earlier than her snookums', flashed her boobs at the guy, and killed him while he was gawping. Not that the "pled her belly" thing did her much good, in the end...she died in prison shortly afterwards anyways.

Shea, those "dramatic makeup style" photos in your portfolio are really nice. They are very striking, which I know you were going for, but I wanted to comment that they are probably my favorites along with the black and white towards the bottom of the similar vein. You do very good work.

DarkPirateShea
01-31-2008, 09:13 PM
Thanks.

My feelings toward that set are a little mixed. I know they are good pictures but I hate hate hate how my eyebrows look. Especially in the third one there. At that point they were almost completely gone (Trich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichotillomania), look it up) so I had to use makeup pencil and then darken it in photoshop cuz the light shining on my face made the makeup all shiney in that spot.

So yeah. Don't much like those ones on a personal basis, but I leave 'em up there cuz I still know they are good pictures.

I think that picture with the flowers was actually on kind of a windy day. I had to wait 'till stuff wasn't moving. I took a few pics and that was the one that ended up being still.
[Photo tip: take LOTS of shots. There's bound to be a good one in there somewhere.]
That was a very random picture too. We were going for a walk and we stopped for slushies and I was all like, "pretty flowers!"

My camera has a good macro (close-up focus) setting. Plus, it was a really nice day out and any camera will take good pictures in good natural lighting.

From your comment about child-hand-shaped hands, I take it that's not your stomach, but if it is I'd be interested in knowing how on Earth you took the picture.

No, that's my stomach. If you look at the hand you can see the fingernails are more rounded and less long (in terms of shape, not growth) than most women's nails. Especially the thumb nail. I have odd shaped thumbs. "Clubbed" is, I believe, the term for it.

And I have a vanity in my room with a mirror on it. If i face the mirror and point the camera at me, I can see the screen on the back of the camera in the mirror.

Oh yeah. Screen. Last time I bought a camera 1 megapixel and a decent card was £600 and a better 35mm with two lenses and five films was £250.

Was that on timer or reaching out to the button?

I'm pretty sure I was holding the camera, so probably the button....

Yeah... looking at the pic now, I think I held the camera sideways so I could hold the camera and press the button with my thumb.

Wow Shea, you are perhaps the best photographer around our age I've seen. Plus your other artwork is great too. But really all I can say is "wow" on your photography. I know of a few people who's got a lot to learn before they have bragging rights now.

Lol, wow, I'm awesome enough that I have other people posting pictures of me. Neat-o.

And thanks BT!
