Haven't met any at con, but had one in the library a few months back...he was checking out books on drawing comics, along with a couple of graphic novels, and my first thought was, "Way to fight the stereotype there, dude..." My second thought was an urge to go apologize to all the other patrons and assure them that we're not all like that. For an idea of what this guy was like, think of the most stereotypical overweight, unwashed, smelly, disgusting, heavy-breathing, stained-shirted, giant-pimple-instead-of-face nerd imaginable. I literally sent him away when he started digging through the lint and trash in his pocket for enough pennies and nickles to pay his fine, because I just couldn't take the smell.

ACTUALLY, yes it does mean they can. As long as they aren't interfering with your rights. And going to a convention which is held on private property is NOT a right.

No it doesnt, if its within their rights they can, but just because they've written it on a ticket means it is within thei rights. Quite often they write that they can do things that cant and then use the ticket to bully people who dont know their rights into thinking they can.

Of course Im basing this of Australian law so maybe in america its different but most of our laws are similar

Security checks at the doors would be fine. Check ticket, check bag for innapproprate weapons, check for BO. Pass all tests, in you go. If at any time are found to be unable to pass one of the previous tests, you will be removed until such time as that changes....
