Y'know? I've never done the makeup sex (post-fight, probably, but the legendary stuff? Not really). Usually any arguments that are big enough happen late-night and drag on long enough to be exhausting. I make a point of not going to sleep before a fight's solved, but sometimes it's a close deal, and neither party is in the mood after. I'd have to say top 3 are 'Got home from a trip', 'Going away', and 'Birthday'. But there's really no reason necessary to trigger good sex.

I should also clarify, carbombs risk taking out innocents. A decent charge of thermite in the roof-liner after being certain of who drives at what time would be much more directed. And just as easy to rig to the ignition, although slightly harder to hide the wiring. Also easier to get ingredients for, although the igniter material can be somewhat difficult (still easier than high explosives).

I understand the nice folks at D*Con may object to that...'s one reason we're not allowed to run a SOLAR module at the con, just show off costumes and the like. It raised a few eyebrows when I brought my sword and throwing-knives two years ago, and they wound up just decorating the table. From what I've been told, boffers have been deemed too dangerous.:rolleyes:

I plan on getting a full sized room, and there are PLENTY of nearby parking lots and off site areas (as well as rooms that have closed doors!) Besides, doing it anywhere IN DC would be a measure of futility, the only time there is a lack of foot traffic is about 4 - 7 am. Methinks everyone's fighting style gets a damper at that hour (I know my sobriety will suffer!)

One advantage possibly here is that most of the community shows are run by volunteer fire departments (smaller centres, anyways), so it's dead easy to get in as an apprentice if you get to know the guy in charge (he helped teach band when I was a kid and I went to school with his daughter). THEY generally know the local fire warden, so permits aren't too tough either... and if you've got money to throw at it, you're golden for a public show.

If I had bothered applying for my licence, I'd have been qualified for Class I stuff... solid ground, shells up to 6", no fancy stuff like aquatic mines or flying saucers, but enough to do a solid amateur show. I think that requires apprenticing or putting on 5 shows in 3 years...? A Class II lets you do all the big stuff to 12", the oddball effects, rooftops, barges, bridges, but licensing is more expensive and I think you need to keep at least a couple of Class II shows per year. I wasn't far off of Class II qualifications...

I'll have to get back into it one day, if I move back homewards.
