::bounce::
having never been to a con, I'd love to get myself to one this year. In MAY I am moving to Orlando to be with my fiancee (she is moving down this month). I was wondering if you lovely people could help me by telling me about cons in the south east, or by pointing me in the right direction for finding info.
thanks!

Dragon*Con in Atlanta. It's over Labor Weekend every year.
I honestly believe that Dragon*Con is a good benchmark when it comes to the con experience. There's a little bit of everything for everyone.
Oh, and your earlier question about goth clubs? I don't know of any in the Orlando area. But I'll ask my Tampa friends what's around in your area.

All the fun stuff happens on the Atlantic coast here in FL. Below Tampa on the Gulf side, most everybody's a bunch of fuddy-duddy retirees (I live in the middle of fuddy-duddy central). D*C is not to be missed (I put the * in out of habit) if you've never been. Be warned, it's ENORMOUS! Long years ago, it could fit in the Atlanta Hilton & Towers. Now it's the Marriott, the Hyatt, the Hilton, and God only knows what other buildings and spillover hotels.

As of right now, it's the Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, and Sheraton...hopefully that'll be enough to contain us for another couple of years.

Well, I just went to the meeting. They added the hotel to quell the overcrowding that plauged the con last year.. BADLY! But it's still something to see, problems or no. There really is nothing like DCon!!
